Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Darius Miles will try to
bring some excitement to the Blazers fans this season, but the
real excitement will come when Oden is healthy for the 2008-09
season. With Zach Randolph moving on, not having Oden this
season becomes an even bigger blow. Expect Roy to take on more
scoring responsibility. His nearly 17 ppg average should soar
into the twenties this year. It is going to be up to the Blazers
players to keep the city buzzing with excitement this season as
it is not looking good right now.
LaMarcus Aldridge is no doubt talented, but still remains
somewhat unproven. I expect him to average double digits this
year as he gets more minutes. Jarrett Jack is one of the more
underrated point guards in the league. His 12 ppg and 5.3 apg
are solid numbers and I think he is capable of more, especially
once the big guy is in the starting lineup next season.
Josh McRoberts will be the rookie that will have to make some
noise this season. He shows a lot of potential, but I don’t even
think he tapped into all of that in two seasons at Duke. Drafted
at pick number 37, I feel like he was a steal and could prove to
be so in the next few years.
The only chance for the Blazers to stay out of the basement in
the weak Northwest Division will be the Minnesota Timberwolves,
who lost Kevin Garnett this offseason. Seattle, Utah, and Denver
are clearly in better shape.
Hang in there Blazers fans. You’ll take a few lumps this year,
but you’ll likely surprise some teams next season. Just enjoy
the young talent that appears to be in place.
As far as betting angles go, you can expect Jimmy Boyd to look
to beat the odds with NBA picks on the Blazers this season.
Not having Oden is going to drive the public perception of this
team into the ground and Jimmy will look to take advantage of
that. We will look to make plays on Portland in the home
underdog role numerous times this season. Make sure you’re on
board with Jimmy for the best NBA
betting advice the industry has to
offer.
