2007-08 Los Angeles Clippers Predictions & Season
Preview
The Clippers were a
major disappointment last season,
winning just 40 games and dropping
below .500 after a breakout season
the previous year. Find out if LA
can get back to the NBA playoffs
this season in Jimmy’s 2007-08 LA
Clippers predictions and season
preview.

There’s no doubt that the Clippers have the talent to get back
to the postseason. Sam Cassell and Cutino Mobley make up one of
the most solid backcourts in the league. These guys bring tons
of experience and savvy to the table, but Cassell has had
trouble staying healthy. It is critical for this guy to play day
in and day out for the Clippers to succeed. Corey Maggette is a
very talented small forward who can score in bunches. Tim Thomas
plays the power forward spot and has the ability to step out on
the floor and shoot the three. If he can be a consistent scorer
for this team coming off the bench, they will have a great shot
at making a playoff run. Of course, the starter at this spot is
Elton Brand. He is one of the game’s elite power forwards and is
a rare shot blocker at this position. Chris Kaman is a very
crafty center with a feathery touch. I know Kobe would love to
have him in a Lakers uni. Brand, Maggette, Mobley, Cassell, and
Thomas all averaged double figures for the Clippers last season.
Kaman averaged just under 12 points per game two seasons ago
when the Clippers made the playoffs and has the ability to
average more.
The balance that LA has makes them a tough team to defend. This
team has had some health issues and defensive downfalls which
kept them from making back-to-back playoff appearances. Playing
in the tough Pacific division does not help this team’s chances
either. Phoenix and Golden State both play an uptempo style that
is tough for the Clippers to defend. I like the two LA teams to
battle it out for the number three spot in the Pacific Division.
We will look to take action on the Clippers when they are going
up against much of the Eastern Conference. The West is still
more talented than the East. The Clippers would be an playoff
team in the Eastern Conference in my opinion, but they'll be on
the fence in the West. For you NBA betting, consider the
Clippers in the underdog roll as their balance usually prevents
them from getting blown out. When you’re expecting a close game,
taking the points is the way to go.
