2007-08 New Orleans Hornets Predictions & Season Preview

Take a look at the New Orleans Hornets odds to win the 2008 NBA Finals!

The 2007-08 New Orleans Hornets season preview and predictions show a team that could put forth the kind of effort and run that the city's football team did a year ago.  The Hornets addressed their needs by signing an outside shooter, and with a loyal fan base who didn't want to see the team move yet again to Oklahoma City, this team should be motivated by the excitement surrounding it this year.  It's going to be tough out West, especially in the Southwest, but this team could surprise a few people.

David West leads the front court with his 18.3 ppg and 8.2 rebounds.  He missed 30 games last year with an elbow injury, and getting him back to full speed is important for the front court.  He has a nice mid-range shot and is an excellent rebounded.  Peja Stojakovic needs to return to full strength after back surgery, and if he does then scoring won't be a problem at all from this unit.  Tyson Chandler gives the Hornets a solid low-post presence who put up 12.4 rebounds and 9.5 points per game after coming over from the Chicago Bulls.  There are some young guys who will be coming off the bench with Julian Wright, the rookie from Kansas, and a couple of second-year players in Hilton Armstrong and Cedric Simmons.

Chris Paul keeps getting better and better every year, so expect good things out of him in his 3rd season as a pro.  He has great vision, can distribute the ball, knocks down shots, and has great speed.  He is the team leader and with a few tools could take this team to the next level.  He did miss 17 games a year ago due to an ankle injury which showed just how valuable he is to the squad.  Morris Peterson should give the team a solid shooter and can blanket opposing guards with his defense.  Rasual Butler provides some off-the-bench scoring as does Bobby Jackson.
