2007-08 New York Knicks Predictions & Season
Preview
Get ready for the
2007-08 season with our New York
Knicks predictions and preview
article. The team made a big
splash this summer by going after
Zach Randolph from the Trailblazers.
Now in just two years the team has
gone from having nobody down low to
have a Twin Towers front with Eddie
Curry and Randolph. There are
a lot of teams out there that would
love to have just one of those guys
down on the block, now the
opposition is going to have to
choose their poison down low.

The front-court is going to be a force to reckon with.
Eddie Curry struggled in Chicago but found a home in New York
last season. He might be the best offensive center in the
game, or at least one of the best, especially with Greg Oden
being gone for the year and Shaquille O'Neal fading quietly
through the twilight of his career. He will be coupled
with one of the best power forwards in the game in Randolph.
Randolph doesn't have outside shooting skills and doesn't run
the floor as well as some, but he'll be a great force inside for
the half court game. Quentin Richardson will start at the
small forward spot and is a solid contributor. David Lee
will be the first one off the bench and before he went down to
injury in the last two months of the season he was putting up
some superb numbers and was a favorite in New York.
Renaldo Balkman was a surprise selection two years ago, but he
was energetic and made some plays off the pine. Randloph
Morris is trying to earn as much playing time as he can in the
crowded front court, and he looked good coming out of Kentucky.
The backcourt has freed up a little bit with the departure of
Steve Francis in the Randolph deal. Now it's Stephon
Marbury and Jamal Crawford, two guys who are natural shooting
guards trying to play point. Both of these guys looked
like they were ready to be team players, Marbury basically
handing the status of team star over to Curry and Crawford not
trying to put up dumb shots and pad his numbers. Nate
Robinson was firey off the bench, but Mardy Collins out of
Temple is on his heels and will probably get more playing time
than Robinson this season.
The Knicks were a surprise last year after such a disappointing
experiment with Larry Brown two years ago. There are
problems here with too many similar players and not enough role
players, but by pounding the ball inside, turning it into a
half-court game, and defending well Isiah Thomas thinks his team
can make the playoffs. Don't expect any great things out
of this squad, nor an extended run towards the Finals, but since
the East is so weak a playoff run isn't out of the picture.
