2007-08 Los Angeles Lakers Predictions & Season
Preview
Take a look at the
Los
Angeles Lakers odds to win the 2008 NBA Finals!
One man is good
enough to get the Lakers into the
playoffs, but one man cannot bring
them a championship. With the
Lakers' management failing to make
any serious deal to bring in an
established star to run alongside
Kobe Bryant, they told their fans,
coaches, and existing players that
they were not serious about
contending for a title this season.

fitting in this season in his

Perhaps, this is all just payback for Kobe, who wanted to be the
main attraction in LA more so than wanting to raise championship
trophies alongside Shaq. Now Kobe realizes that he cannot go at
it alone. The Lakers don’t really seem to care, making no
serious push to bring in a Kevin Garnett in the offseason,
treating young Kwame Brown and Andrew Bynum like franchise guys
by not dealing with them.
Derek Fisher heads back to LA and will provide some toughness
and experience for this team, but he is not a season-changing
player. Luke Walton will be solid in the small forward spot. He
can move without the ball, pass, and rebound. Lamar Odom fills
the power forward spot and will continue to create endless
matchup problems with his ability to play the perimeter at 6’
11’’. But Odom lacks any killer instinct and has shown that he
cannot function at his best as a secondary option playing off
the ball. Kwame Brown will likely start at the center position
with Bynum backing him up. I’m not big on either of these guys
and I am pessimistic in thinking that either will develop into
an All-Star. And then there’s Kobe Bryant, the best player in
basketball right now. He can light up a score board, but he
cannot make LA a contender in the current status this team is
in. The Lakers are not very good defensively and they
desperately need better interior production.
Expect the Lakers to finish in the middle of the pack in the NBA
Pacific division. This is not a team which will be consistent
enough to make a weekly part of your
NBA betting. We will pick our
spots with them, playing them when they are hot and fading them
when they are cold. When Kobe gets in one of those grooves where
he is on fire for four and five games at a time we will look to
make some NBA picks on Totals.
This often presents solid Overs situations. Let Jimmy Boyd lead
