2007-08 Indiana Pacers Predictions & Season Preview

Get ready for a better season of NBA betting by reading our 2007-08 Indiana Pacers predictions and season preview article.  The Pacers are still feeling the effects of the brawl back on November 19th, 2004 as this franchise went from perennial playoff power and title contender to being in a major rebuilding mode.  Last year the team failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 1997 and only the second time since 1989, but it doesn't look like this year is going to be all that promising.

Jermain O'Neal still leads the team in the front court, but he's coming off a knee injury that interrupted what might have been his best season in the NBA.  He had some mumblings about wanting to be traded but has seemd to back off that stance, but how long before that talk starts again if Indiana gets off to a cold start.  Danny Granger proved he can put the ball in the basket last year with his 13.9 ppg, but he needs to prove himself on defense.  Troy Murphy will most likely be the starter at power forward and he can stretch the floor by shooting 40 percent from the 3-point line.  Depth up front isn't a problem with Jeff Foster, Ike Diogu, and Shawn Williams all being able to provide quality minutes.

Jamaal Tinsley should be much improved this year in Coach O'Brien's wide open offense, he seemed too uptight and limited in Rick Carlisle's.  There is hope that Mike Dunleavy can live up to the hype as he struggled with his shooting last year, despite that supposedly being his forte.  The team does have Marquis Daniels, Kareem Rush, and Travis Diener for depth, which may be needed since Tinsley has had plenty of problems staying healthy.  Daniels was impressive at times in Dallas, but this unit isn't going to intimidate a lot of opposing teams.

Things don't look that great this year for Pacer fans, but that doesn't mean you won't be seeing them on the premium side with Jimmy's NBA picks.  We look for value, and with the low expectations this year this could be a team we really cash in on over the course of a season.
