The Warriors shocked the world last season by beating the Dallas Mavericks who were the favorites to win the whole thing. However, they quickly fell back down to earth when Utah knocked them off in round two. If the Warriors face off with Dallas again in this season’s playoffs, I guarantee the Mavs will take care of business.

Losing Jason Richardson will hurt more than the Warriors might think and not just in win loss column. This guy was a fan favorite with his gravity-defying high wire acts. They lose his 20+ points per game and his ability to bring the crowds out of their seats.

Baron Davis is one of the game’s elite point guards, but he has been injury prone the last few seasons. Without Richardson, the Warriors won’t have anyone really capable of carrying the torch when he goes down. Stephen Jackson is a capable scorer, but his hot-headed antics often hurt this team and they have been a problem every place he’s played. Matt Barnes really had a break out season last year and we expect more good things from him. He reminds me a lot of Shawn Marion. Al Harrington will play the four and Andris Biedrins will play the five to give the Warriors a decent interior tandem. Monta Ellis looks to be a bright young star who Nellie will likely bring off the bench. The Warriors will desperately need his scoring with Richardson gone.

Golden State played uptempo basketball once Nellie arrived and that seems to do the trick, but I don’t expect it to elevate this team to championship status without getting a few more big names in town.

The Golden State Warriors will be slightly overvalued by the oddsmakers after a successful season and we expect the public will take the bait. Don’t make this a regular habit with your NBA betting. Jimmy Boyd can help you beat the odds with his NBA picks. We will look for spots to go against Golden State as we don’t think they will be quite as good as advertised.
