2008 Atlanta Hawks NBA Betting Odds
Who would have thought that 2008 Atlanta Hawks NBA betting would have been so profitable for Eastern Conference backers? It seems like things have turned upside down this year with the Miami Heat getting off to an 8-23 start with no signs of any improvements lying ahead. The Cavs went to the NBA finals a year ago with LeBron James, but this year he seems lonely out there in leading the team to a 14-17 record. If you haven’t been following this team with your NBA picks then you have missed out on quite a few great opportunities this year, but we want to make sure you hop on the bandwagon sooner rather than later.
Before this year it seemed like the only time Atlanta fans got to see decent players on the court was when they flipped the channel over to ESPN Classic and caught Dominique Wilkens and Spud Webb. The good news is that things appear to be changing with the group of athletes the Hawks have brought in. Joe Johnson mans the point forward spot and is piling up some impressive numbers with 22.1 ppg, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. Josh Smith is emerging with his athletic allowing him to dunk on opponents and block shots with the best players in the league. Marvin Williams is showing why everyone though he had so much talent playing for North Carolina. the 6′10″ forward can slice and dice opponents with decent range. Al Horford is having an impressive rookie campaign as well at the power forward, center position. He is nearly putting up a double double each night with 9.2 ppg and 9.5 rebounds.
With all of that talent, and tall, but athletic big men, it’s no wonder that the Hawks are seventh in scoring defense with 95 ppg and 11th in rebounding. Their 15-13 record is solid, figuring in how poorly the team has played in recent years. The over/under seems to be the best bet at 8 overs and 20 unders this year, but the team is really performing better than expectations in their last 10 games in going 7-3 ATS. They won’t be making a real threat to the Orlando Magic for the Southeast quite yet, but after four straight 50-loss campaigns fans would love to just see this team make the playoffs.
Atlanta may have surprised some teams in the early going with upsets over Dallas and Phoenix, a couple of games in which the Hawks showed their defensive prowess in holding both opponents to fewer than 100 points. It seems like the league if finally taking notice though after the team went into Orlando in early December to knock off the Magic. There arent’ going to be any easy games from here on out, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be some great chances for NBA betting on the Hawks.
