2008 AT&T National Predictions
Jimmy Boyd has you covered with his 2008 AT&T National Tournament predictions as the PGA Tour tackles the event in Washington D.C. this week. Kenny Perry was on our radar last week, but we did not take him as one of our three golfers to win the Buick Open. With many of the big names in golf sitting out this tournament due to it being the 4th of July weekend, it could be another tournament for golfers who have had sub par years to this point to step up and win. Fans are usually excited to see Tiger Woods in the field as he hosts this event, but, unless you were born under a rock, you know that Woods is rehabbing his knee. Defending champ K.J. Choi will be teeing it up this weekend to defend his title and his price is nice at 30-1 odds. Find out if Jimmy Boyd thinks Choi will be in the running to get his first win of the season as he delivers you three golfers who will be in contention again this week. Two of the golfers are the same as last week, and we believe that one of them will get the job done this time around.
Bet our Favorite Jim Furyk at 12-1 odds at Sportsbook.com – After finishing 3rd in the 2007 point standings, Furyk has struggled at times in 2008. He is yet to get a win, but this guy is too good not to have any sort of a resume. He does has four top 10 finishes, including a runner up at the CA Championship. Furyk’s game suited this course well a year ago when he tied for third place. Furyk will not get skunked this season. He’s arguably the biggest name in the field and I like him to take home the top prize at a great price.
Bet the Sleeper Brandt Snedeker at 40-1 odds at Sportsbook.comĀ – Sneds didn’t come through for us they way we thought he would last weekend, but he won’t disappoint again. I fully expect him to be in the final group come Sunday. Sneds finished tied for 8th at this event a season ago and has five top 10 finishes to his name in 2008. His most notable top 10 was a third place tie at the Masters. Sneds is still trying to find consistency with his driver and I don’t think he will has nearly as much trouble this week with the way the course lays out. Take Snedeker at a great value.
Make a Great Value Wager on Pat Perez at 50-1 odds at Sportsbook.com – Perez will be playing with a great deal of confidence this week, having tied with Furyk for 3rd place in this tournament a year ago. Perez also has three top 10 finishes this season, including a 4th at the Sony Open and a 6th at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. With a thinned out field, I look for Perez to have a great shot to win at 50-1 odds.
