2008 Australian Open Tennis Odds & Predictions

The 2008 Australian Open tennis odds have been posted for the men's side and it's no surprise that Roger Federer is the clear cut favorite to win.  One would think that Federer's reign of terror would end somewhere so is this the year that he doesn't win three out of the four grand slam title?  If you think that he's going to have to "settle" for only two major victories this year then you would have to think the Australian Open is the place he would lose, because he's been so dominate at both Wimbledown and the US Open.  With that in mind, he has won this tournament for two straight years, and there are probably only one or two players in the world that we think would even have a shot at taking him off the throne.

Marat Safin was the last player to win this tournament other than Federer, taking home the title back in 2005.  Before that Andre Agassi won titles here in 2003, 2001, and 2000 with Thomas Johansson winning in 2002.  The player with the second best odds to win the Australian Open is Novak Djokovic.  He is the no. 3 ranked player in the world and really developed during the past season, even contending with Federer in the finals of the US Open.  Djokovic put five ATP titles under his belt last year and went a solid 19-4 in Grand Slam play with losses coming only against Federer and the world's no. 2 player in Rafael Nadal.  He's got a great chance to win this tournament and we recommend taking him by betting the +650 odds on Djokovic that BetUS is currently offering.

If you are looking for an even bigger underdog then make sure you take a look at the American Andy Roddick.  His game has clearly been improving with the help of coach Jimmy Connors and while he doesn't have much to show for it in the Grand Slams, now is the time.  You can bet on Roddick to win the Australian at +2000 at BetUS.

Here are the complete odds to win the 2008 Australian Open:
