2008 GMAC Bowl Odds & Predictions

Some people think that the 2008 GMAC Bowl between Bowling Green and Tulsa is nothing more than an opening act for the BCS Championship game, but each game brings us another opportunity to make a little extra cash with college bowl betting.  If you are going to be handicapping this game on your own, then read the preview below to get a feel for both of the teams, but if you want a little help from the experts to close out the year on a successful run, then get signed up for Jimmy Boyd's college bowl picks and make a little profit today.

While the GMAC Bowl might not have a couple of powerhouse teams that everyone knows about, it still should be a great game between two teams that know how to put points on the board.  It seems like both teams turn the game into a track meet with their high flying attacks, largely because both defenses are too terrible to stop anyone from scoring.  That is one reason why this game has the highest total of any of the other bowl games this season at 75.5 points.

Bowling Green comes into this game at 8-4 straight up (SU) and 7-4 against the spread (ATS).  They have gone over in seven of 11 games that a total was set and they are averaging 32.1 ppg on offense and giving up 29.5 ppg on defense.  They should be ready to go for this one as they are coming off a four game winning streak to end the year.  Tyler Sheehan had more than 3,000 yards passing and was one of the more underrated players in the country.  He has good receivers and a running back who does it all in Anthony Turner.  Bowling Green even had a defense that decided to show up at the end of the season, but the bad news is that this squad struggled against good passing teams.  That is exactly what they are going to be facing in Tulsa.

Tulsa stands at 9-4 SU and 4-9 ATS, costing their backers quite a bit of cash this season.  The total is going under in seven of thirteen games this year with the Hurricanes averaging 39.5 ppg on offense and giving up 35.4 ppg to the opposition.  Their big playmaker is quarterback Paul Smith, who put up 4,753 passing yards to go with 42 touchdowns this year.  He was second in nearly every major passing category behind Texas Tech's Graham Harrell.  The defense didn't really show up much at all this year, and that will cause problems for a Falcons team that can move the pigskin.  If you like exciting games with a lot of points, then circle this game on your calendar as one to watch.
