2008 NFL Draft Review - Picks 11-20

Jimmy Boyd continues his profile of the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft in this article. With no further ado, let's break down picks 11-20.

Leodis McKelvin, CB, Buffalo Bills

McKelvin is a great pickup here as the Bills got the best corner in the draft and didn't even have to move up to get him. The Saints may have made a mistake by letting him pass them by.

Ryan Clady, OT, Denver Broncos

With Matt Lepsis retiring, the Broncos needed to go after a tackle, and they got the next best thing to Jake Long at pick 12 thanks to so many teams needing defensive help in front of them. Clady will step right in and be an immediate starter.

Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers

The Panthers had one of the best days in the draft of any team in the NFC and they started it off by grabbing Stewart at pick 13. Stewart could end up being the best back in this class in the upcoming season as he inherits a better team than McFadden.

Chris Williams, OT, Chicago Bears

The Bears needed to add some beef to the O-line with the way the offensive struggled last season running the football, but my question is if Williams was the right guy. Jeff Otah or Branden Albert may have been better prospects.

Branden Albert, OG, Kansas City Chiefs

What a first round for the Chiefs who landed, perhaps, the best overall talent in the draft, Glenn Dorsey, at pick number five. Albert will be a great building block on a team which has traditionally had very good offensive fronts.

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Arizona Cardinals

The Cards needed to improve their secondary and they may have landed a lockdown corner to do so. DRC had a fantastic offseason and presents a huge upside. He was a pick well worth being spent at number 16.

Gosder Cherilus, OT, Detroit

The Lions may have busted on draft day again in the first round. They weren't able to land any of there targets three targets: Derrick Harvey, Jonathan Stewart, and Jerod Mayo. Cherilus could be a starter for a lot of years, but doesn't appear to be a Pro Bowl talent.

Joe Flacco, QB, Baltimore Ravens

Flacco is big, strong, and can throw the ball a hundred yards through the air, but he's a big risk as I'm not sold on his mobility. Also, the NFL is going to be a big jump from playing at reclusive Delaware. Getting Ray Rice with their second pick was a much better move in comparison.

Jeff Otah, OT, Carolina Panthers

Getting Stewart and Otah in the first round with picks outside the top ten is worth high marks. Otah could end up being the best offensive tackle out of this class. He doesn't move as well as Long, but his size, strength, and technique are unmistakable.

Aqib Talib, CB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Talib is a gamble with some character issues and he plays an undisciplined corner that costs his team the big play on occasion. However, he just might be worth it as he has size and playmaking ability.
