2008 Second Round NFL Playoff Predictions

Check out these second round NFL playoff predictions to see how oddsmakers see this week’s action shaking out. In the Wild Card round, oddsmakers favored the home teams with their opening lines before money moved them in the case of the Jags/Steelers. When the smoke cleared, only two of the four home teams prevailed. Oddsmakers have favored the home teams in round 2 by fairly big margins to leave you feeling pretty comfortable in taking favorites in your pick ‘em pool this week, but make sure you check out Jimmy’s NFL picks for your against the spread and total betting in the Divisional round.

Seattle Seahawks 17
Green Bay Packers 25

Seattle is just 3-5 on the road this season straight up and ATS while Green Bay is 7-1 at home straight up and 6-1-1 ATS. Oddsmakers are giving the nod to the higher seed at home here.

Jacksonville Jaguars 17
New England Patriots 30

The Jags have been solid on the road at 6-3 straight up and ATS this season including a big road win Wild Card weekend, but the Pats are undefeated in Foxboro, winning by 21.5 points per game on average. Oddsmakers like the Pats to continue their quest toward perfection.

San Diego Chargers 19
Indianapolis Colts 28

At 4-4, the Chargers have been very inconsistent on the road this season. Oddsmakers are not giving much clout to San Diego’s 2-point home win over Indy back in November here either. The Colts will be healthier than they were in that game and in the comfort of their dome. Oddsmakers like the defending champs to face off with New England in the AFC title game.

New York Giants 20
Dallas Cowboys 27

New York finally got the first round monkey off its back enabling Eli Manning to finally smile at a big post-game press conference. Oddsmakers feel the celebration in New York will be short lived as a trip to Dallas will end the Giants’ run. The Cowboys have won each of the previous two meetings by double digits.
