College Bowl Predictions2008 Outback Bowl Odds & PredictionsThe 2008 Outlook Bowl will once again take place in Tampa, Florida on January 1st at 11 AM EST. This year's game will be televised by ESPN and will offer a matchup between talented Big Ten and SEC teams in Wisconsin and Tennessee. Tennessee's last trip to this game took place last year when they lost 20-10 to the Penn State Nittany Lions. Wisconsin is returning to Tampa for the first time since 2005, whent hey lost 24-21 to the Georgia Bulldogs. Both of these teams can move the football across the opposing goallines, but their defenses leave a lot to be desired. That should make for an exciting start to the new year of college football betting.
Tennessee is averaging 33.4 points per game (ppg) due to a balanced attack that has quarterback Erik Ainge throwing for more than 3,000 yards with 29 touchdowns to 10 interceptions, a 1,000 yard receiver in Lucas Taylor, and a large offensive line that can open up holes and protect Ainge. Ainge completed 63% of his passes this season and was only sacked four times, the best mark in the nation. The reason that the Vols aren't in a BCS game is due to their defense. It let them down all season long in giving up 28.1 ppg and more than 400 yards per game (ypg). On the road it was even worse for Tennessee as they watched the opposition average 43.2 ppg and 487.3 ypg. Wisconsin also has a balanced attack and that could give that Vol defense plenty of problems. PJ Hill is the focus of the Badger offense and he gained 1,080 yards and 14 touchdowns for the team this season. But along with the 201.5 rushing ypg, Wisconsin also moved the ball 212.4 ypg through the air. You can bet that they will use whatever weapon it takes to move the ball against the Tennessee offense. The Wisconsin defense was slightly better at stopping the other team, giving up just 23.3 ppg. The problems for Wisconsin is the same as it was for Tennessee and that is every time they hit the road the defense stays home. The Badgers give up 30.8 ppg and more than 400 ypg on the road.
