2008 Portland Blazers NBA Betting

Things have changed this season, and who would have thought that 2008 Portland Blazers NBA betting would have been so popular. Out West the Houston Rockets were supposed to contend for the conference title but have gotten off to a 15-16 start and don’t appear to have things figured out quite yet under new head coach Rick Adelman. The Utah Jazz have been disappointing fans as well with a 17-16 record. There were some that had them breaking through this year after getting to the conference finals a year ago. With those two teams hitting the tank it has left the door open for some new blood to emerge and one of those teams have been the Blazers.

It seems like a long time ago when Portland was competing with Shaq’s Lakers for the right to go to the Finals, since from between 2002 and 2006 they were known more for getting in trouble with the law than they were winning games. Damon Stoudamire getting pulled over for possession of marijuana, Ruben Patterson not only hitting his teammates but his wife, Darius Miles being a disruptive force for coach Maurice Cheeks, and Zach Randolph playing his part as well. Those names are gone and the team has sought to clean up their act, with the decision seeming to pay off this year.

The Blazer’s have the youngest team in the NBA, but they have a lot of potential stars. Brandon Roy is deadly on the perimeter with his excellent ball-handling and smooth jump shot. He has 19.2 ppg and 5.6 assists which leads the team in both categories. LaMarcus Aldridge is developing nicely as well at power forward with 18.2 ppg and 7.2 rebounds each night. Travis Outlaw doesn’t get the same media attention as the other two, but he provides high energy off the bench in racking up 11.9 ppg and 5 boards.

With these youngsters excelling Portland rattled off a 13-2 record in December, which was good for 12-3 ATS to add cash to their backers bankrolls. Now the team is threatening Denver in the Northwest Division, and head coach Nate McMillian thinks they have the division’s best team. McMillian was also the guy who led the surprise team in 2004-05 when the Seattle SuperSonics rose to the top. It seems like he has some magic potion that is working again in Portland. Can you believe they are doing all of this without their no. 1 draft pick Greg Oden? The league should be on notice next season, that is, if they aren’t already.
