2008 NFL Quarterback Predictions & Odds for Most Passing Yards
BetUS Sportsbook, known for its unmatched sign up bonuses, lists 2008 NFL player futures in four major categories. In this article, Jimmy Boyd will be focusing on the quarterback position. He lists three quarterbacks he feels have a great chance to throw for the most yards in the NFL this season and why. With all these types of bets it pays to do a little value hunting. You’ll find the complete list of NFL odds below.
Drew Brees: +500 at BetUS Sportsbook
It is going to be next to impossible for Tom Brady to erupt for another 4,800-yard season, so it is in our best interest to look for a little bit more value. Teams will definitely try to make the Pats win by running the ball. Teams started to get better at that strategy later in the season and the result was a tail off in numbers by Brady and company. Drew Brees then becomes my favorite to win the yardage war. Brees has put up big numbers in the NFC each of the past two seasons. Last year, he led the NFC with over 4,400 yards (2nd in the NFL). The Saints are a pass-first team the way few others are in the NFL. With the defense expected to be better in New Orleans this year, the offense should see even more possessions and that will boost Brees’ numbers. This guy have been to two Pro Bowls and has been an MVP runner up and yet he still flies under the radar a little bit. A nice value at +500.
Marc Bulger: +2500 at BetUS Sportsbook
We all know what Marc Bulger can do. He is coming off of his worst season in the NFL as injuries hampered him throughout. Because of it his numbers took a nose dive. Competitors like Bulger bounce back and I expect him to return to the form we saw in 2006 when he threw for 4,301 yards and 24 touchdowns. The Rams caught a heavy dose of the injury bug all over the field last season and the team underachieved as a result. The Rams will be much better and more competitive this season and Bulger’s numbers will rise because of it. This guy gets lots of easy yards on swing passes and screens to All-Pro running back Stephen Jackson as well and that’s the kind of yards you need to win the yardage battle. Bulger is a great value at +2500.
Donovan McNabb: +2000 to win at BetUS Sportsbook
McNabb is on the hot seat and that means he is going to have to come up with a huge season to stay in Philly or to get a chance at being a starter anywhere else next season. I think he’ll do just that. McNabb was brilliant for the Eagles in three season ending victories and I like the momentum to continue for the now healthy Q. I think McNabb can best his great 2004-05 season, in which he threw for nearly 3,900 with a QB rating of 104.5.
