2008 Stanford St. Jude Predictions & Odds

Many of the big names in golf will take the week off with the U.S. Open taking place next week, but Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia are two top notch golfers which will tee it up on TPC Southwind in Memphis. Our great run of golf picks continued last week with our sleeper Kenny Perry winning the Memorial Tournament at 30-1 odds. Last week's win marked Jimmy's 3rd in the last four tournaments. Who ever said picking PGA Tour winners was like finding a needle in a haystack? Defending champ Woody Austin will join the aforementioned Singh and Garcia in hunt for the Stanford St. Jude top prize. Find out who Jimmy Boyd likes this week in his Stanford St. Jude odds and predictions article.

Bet The Players Championship Winner Sergio Garcia at 15-1 odds at Sportsbook.com

Garcia landed us a nice paycheck when we picked him as our 40-1 longshot at The Players Championship. This week, he's in the favorite spot, but I still like the 15-1 value we are getting. While some players like to take the week off before major tournaments, Garcia often likes to play as part of his tune up. He'll most definitely be at Southwind to win. His 10th ranking in greens hit in regulation and his 24th total driving rank makes him a tough out this week.

Bet the Sleeper Padraig Harrington at 25-1 odds at Sportsbook.com

Harrington really isn't a sleeper in any tournament he enter because the guy is very talented, but he is getting those kind off odds this week and we'll look to take advantage. If he didn't spend so much time on the European Tour who knows how much success he would have in the states. Harrington already has collected a trio of top five finishes this season. Harrington has only played seven PGA Tour events this season, but that does not really diminish his rankings of 2nd in putting average and 1st in birdie average. He'll have a great shot to be in the final group Sunday.

Make a Great Value wager on defending champ Woody Austin at 50-1 odds at Sportsbook.com

Austin had a nice year in 2007 with a win here and a pair of runner up finishes. He's yet to crack the top three in 2008 and has just two top ten finishes, but I really like Woody to play well this week on a course he owned last year. I expect Woody to have his coming out party this week. We also can't forget that he has a 4th place finish at the Zurich Classic and a 5th place in the Accenture Match Play Championship so it's not like he's been completely rot this season. Great odds on a solid golfer.
