Super Bowl props cover everything from basic flip a coin wagers to zany comparisons between players appearing in this Super Bowl with players of past Super Bowls. In this article, I’ll talk about some of the different props that sportsbooks have listed odds for and provide you with some betting tips on how to beat the books.
Bodog Sportsbook lists a number of wagers dealing with how one feels Tom Brady will perform in the game. You can wager on everything from his pass attempts to his longest completion. I have examined the series of props dealing with Tom Brady in my Tom Brady Super Bowl predictions article. Make sure you check it out as I have released my picks on most all of his props. Other players such as Eli Manning, Plaxico Burress, Bradon Jacobs, Randy Moss, and Wes Welker also have prop sets.
Bodog Sportsbook also lists team props. These start with the “which team will win the coin toss” props that I mentioned earlier and include everything from which team will score first to will the entire Fox Pregame team pick the Patriots to win the Super Bowl. The prop dealing with the Fox Pregame crew fits into the more zany category I talked about. Also in this category are props such as how long it will take Jordan Sparks to sing the National Anthem, will this be the most watched Super Bowl in history, and which Super Bowl commercial will have a higher rating on USA Today's annual Ad Meter?
In the individual props category, you will find zany props such as what Song will Tom Petty sing to end his Halftime Show at the Super Bowl, will Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw in Super Bowl XLII rush for more yards that Ottis Anderson and Dave Meggett in Super Bowl XXV, and will Tom Brady in Super Bowl XLII throw more TD passes that Tom Brady in Super Bowl XXXVI?
While some of these odds are interesting and fun, they don’t always present bettors with the best opportunity to win. I highly recommend staying away from betting on the props that are just guesses. Why make a wager on who you think will win the coin toss when winning would have everything to do with luck? Try to make wagers on the lines that you feel oddsmakers are off the mark on. With so many props, it is impossible for oddsmakers to have tight lines through and through. If you study all the available props and do your research, I have no doubt that you will be able to find some winners.
