2008 Travelers Championship Golf Predictions & Odds

PGA Tour golf was at its finest Father's Day weekend for the U.S. Open as Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate on the 91st hole in one of the best golf tournaments ever seen. Tiger sank an unlikely putt to force an 18-hole playoff and he finally bested Mediate in a sudden death playoff-hole. To add to the excitement, we cashed in with Woods, who was making his first appearance in a month. Tiger and some of the other big names on the Tour will be taking the week off, but Jimmy Boyd is still here to deliver you another winner with his 2008 Travelers Championship odds and predictions. The test will be Cromwell, Connecticut's TPC River Highlands course. Jimmy Boyd lists his three top contenders, and their odds below, he thinks have the best shot at winning this week.

Bet our Favorite Kenny Perry at 16/1 odds at BodogLife.com

Perry sat out the U.S. Open, so he will be fresh and ready to get back on the course for some competition. Perry has been phenomenal in 2008. He won the Memorial Tournament a few weeks back and also has a second place finish at the AT&T Classic. Perry is among the favorites by oddsmakers for a reason as he is 6th on the money list and also in FedEx Cup standings. This guy has been so good this season because of his ability to hit greens in regulation. He is currently 12th on the tour in this category. With a weak field and at a great price, Perry is the man to beat.

Bet the Sleeper Carl Pettersson at 28/1 odds at BodogLife.com

Last year, Hunter Mahan carried over his solid performance at the U.S. Open to win this tournament and Pettersson appears to be that guy this time around. He finished tied for 6th at the Open, he always cracked the top 10 in his previous tournament, finishing 10th at the Memorial Tournament. Pettersson doesn't have a tour win since 2006, but one has to like his chances this week with a thinned out field. Rocco Mediate doesn't have a tour win in six years, but he paid off nicely for those who took him to finish in the top three.

Make a Great Value wager on Woody Austin at 50/1 odds at BodogLife.com

Austin won this tournament back in 2004 at TPC River Highlands so that is going to give a great deal of confidence to a guy which hasn't won on many other courses. He tied for fourth at the Zurich Classic and brought home a fifth place finish at the Accenture Match Play Championship. His great iron play will be a big advantage to how this course plays. Austin usually struggles to put together four consecutive strong days of golf, but with confidence on his side, and a weaker field, he's definitely worth your while.
