2008 Wachovia Championship Predictions & Odds

The odds are up and ready for action as the PGA Tour heads to the plush Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina for the 2008 Wachovia Championship, which is traditionally the last tune up before The Players Championship at Sawgrass. Last week's winner at the Byron Nelson Championship, Adam Scott, is among the favorites this week and should have a good chance to win with defending champion Tiger Woods rehabbing his knee. Below, Jimmy lists the three golfers with the best shot at winning this week's tournament and explains why they are worth your money. Get Jimmy's take on the 2008 Wachovia Championship odds in this exclusive preview.

Bet Phil Mickelson at 10-1 odds at BodogLife.com

Lefty is the favorite for a reason and at 10-1 odds he still gives us pretty good bang for our buck. Mickelson always performs well at the Wachovia. He finished tied for third last season, just four shots off Tiger's pace. With Tiger not around, Phil is definitely the man to beat. He is second on this year's money list and second in the FedExCup standings. Mickelson went through a three-tournament stretch where he finished 20th of worse preceding the Masters. He regrouped at the Masters with a fifth place finish and after sitting out the last two tournaments, I expect Lefty to be fresh and ready to go after a big win. If Lefty's putter doesn't act up, he's the closest thing to a shoe-in this week.

Bet Stewart Cink at 25-1 odds at BodogLife.com

Cink's game has been in-Cink all season long and I have no reason to believe it won't continue this week at Quail Hollow. Cink has four top three finishes and five top ten finishes through just nine tournaments this season. With two seconds and two thirds in 2008, Cink just might be due for his first win of the year. Because holes 16, 17, and 18 are thought to be three of the toughest finishing holes in all of the tour stops, it's no surprise that the last three to win this event have been Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk, and Vijay Singh. In other words, top golfers hold a big edge in this tournament because those that have been catching a stroke of luck often hit reality with these three holes. Also, Singh is the only non U.S. winner of this event in its five year history, so we expect the American Stewart Cink to have a great opportunity to win this week.

Bet Boo Weekley at 40-1 odds at Bodoglife.com

Weekley is the big bet for value hunters this week as a 40-1 payout can produce a nice reward with little risk. Weekley has also had a great 2008 with four top ten finishes and a win in the Verizon Heritage – the last tournament he's played. Taking off the Byron Nelson will have Weekley refreshed and he will also still carry over the momentum and confidence of having won his last tournament played. Weekley has gotten off to good starts each of the past two seasons and with the year still young, I like him to continue his great play at Quail Hollow this week.

Do all of your golf betting at BodogLife Sportsbook, the best all-around sports betting site on the planet with great lines, great promotions, and fast payouts. Take one of these three golfers to win the Wachovia Championship this week. You can also place a top five bet at BodogLife, similar to a horse racing place bet, in which you win if your golfer cracks the top five.
