Last week, golf fans saw something special as Padraig Harrington came from behind to win the PGA Championship and to capture his second straight major. Winning consecutive majors is a feat that is seemingly reserved for Tiger Woods, but Harrington has been the man to step up in his absence to give golf fans something to cheer about. Many of the top golfers in the world will not be teeing it up this week at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, defending Champion Brandt Snedeker will be to defend his title. This week’s tournament becomes very critical with the playoff stakes of many golfers on the line for the FedEX Cup Playoffs. Singh has taken his backers on a roller coaster ride this season. Inconsistency normally doesn’t make for a strong wager, but given the field Singh has to me the man to beat. It doesn’t matter what the numbers or the records say, Vijay has proven throughout his career to be one of the best iron players on the planet. Singh knows he needs to be sharp this week to wash the sour taste of last week’s debacle out of his mouth and to get ready for the playoffs. It’s been a season of repeats as several golfers have defended their titles this season and Sneds, as his friends call him, could do it here. He has five top tens in 2008, and has played some very good golf on big stages. His ninth place finish at a very tough US Open was very impressive. This event remains Sneds only tour win, but that won’t be the case for much longer. Having won at a course before always gives a golfer confidence going in and why shouldn’t it. That means the golfer was able to outlast the rest on a course for four days, which is a truly impressive feat. With this kind of value, the defending champ is a nice pick.

These are the tournaments when the rest of the field has to watch out for Davis Love III. He’s getting up there in years so his game doesn’t show up each and every week, but with a thin out field he will be a major threat here. With one of the prettiest swings you’ll ever see Love III has 19 career tour wins, but he hasn’t even been able to crack the top ten in 2008. Perhaps, no golfer has never been as due as Love III is here. With this being the last tourney of the season, he stands an excellent chance to win it to solidify himself in the top 144 and to make the playoffs.
