2009 AT&T National Betting Odds

The PGA Tour is heading to our nation’s capital this week, as some of the best golfers in the world get ready to take aim at the 2009 AT&T National event in Washington D.C. Not only will there be fireworks in the sky for the 4th of July this weekend, but there should be plenty of excitement surrounding this event, as its hosted by non other than Tiger Woods. Last year Woods was unable to play in his own event due to knee problems, but that didn’t stop Anthony Kim from grabbing the trophy after an impressive 12 under 268. With another strong field and Woods back in action at his own event, there figures to be plenty of strong play this weekend. For those of you looking to do some PGA Tour betting this weekend, I have broken down the field into the favorites, guys in the middle of the pack, and the long shots I think have a shot to win.
Favorites: Tiger Woods +175, Jim Furyk +1500, Hunter Mahan +1500, Anthony Kim +2000, and Paul Casey +2000
No surprise at all that Woods is the overall favorite to win his own tournament by a long shot, but in his one start at this event back in 2007 Woods finished 6th. While Mahan has finished 12th or better in each of the last two years at this event, Furyk is coming off back to back third place finishes at this event. Kim is the defending champion, and has the game to repeat even with Woods in the field. Casey gets into the favorite list just based on how well he has been playing this season. No question I like Woods to win this weekend, but I think both Furyk and Mahan have excellent shots at coming away with the trophy.
Middle of the Pack: Sean O’Hair +2500, Vijay Singh +3000, Robert Allenby +3000, Mike Weir +3000, Lucas Glover +4000, and Ryan Moore +4000
Another solid group of golfers here, including the US Open Champion Lucas Glover, who wound up finishing tied for 11th last week at the Travelers Championship. Moore also played well at the event coming in tied for 4th. I think the guys to watch out for in this group are O’Hair and Singh, as I love the way O’Hair has been striking the ball this season, and I feel like Singh still has something left in the tank and the game to come away with a win.
Long Shots: Steve Marino +5000, Paul Goydos +5000, Nick Watney +5000, KJ Choi +5000, Bubba Watson +5000, John Senden +5000, Davis Love III +6000, Charlie Hoffman +6000, Boo Weekley +8000, and Rocco Mediate +10000
A lot of interesting options here with some very good odds for your money. The course favors the long hitter this weekend, so guys like Watson, Sendon, Love III, and Hoffman all have an advantage going into this weekend. Choi won this event back in 2007, so he is a threat to play well. I also think you have to keep a close eye on Rocco Mediate, as this guy tied for 8th in 2007 and came back and tied for 18th last year. My favorites out of this group are Watson and Love III, as I think both of these guys are going to play exceptionally well this weekend.
