2009 March Madness Bracket Predictions
The March Madness Brackets are ready to go and I’m here to help you fill out that winning bracket. This article provides a brief overview of my selections and I will get more in depth as I post my articles breaking down each individual region. I don’t see any Davidson’s this season and the top seeds are going to be tough to keep out of the Final Four so expect three of out four to go. The 12 over 5 upset will be alive and well again and I have pegged a couple. I wish you the best of luck in filling out your bracket this season. Without any further ado, these are my 2009 March Madness Bracket Predictions.
East Region
The East Region will be all about the Pitt Panthers and I’m taking them clear out to the Final Four so start putting Pitt on all the lines. They have the type of balance and experience it takes to go deep. I have them taking out Oklahoma State in round 2, Florida State in the Sweet 16, and Duke in the Elite Eight. I don’t see a lot of big upsets in this region but I do have UCLA knocking off Villanova in the second round to get to the sweet 16.
Midwest Region
I know Louisville won the Big East regular season title and the Big East Tournament but I’m just not sold on the Cards because they lack interior scoring. If a team can make the Cards pay for pressing then they are going to be in trouble and that’s precisely what I think Kalin Lucas and Michigan State can do to get to the Final Four. I see more upsets in this region with Arizona knocking off Utah and Wake Forest to move into the Sweet 16. I also like USC over Boston College in the 10 vs. 7 matchup.
South Region
A popular pick it may be, but I’m not going to shy away from penciling in the North Carolina Tar Heels as the 2009 National Champions. The Heels are the most complete team in nation and after making a Final Four trip in 2008, they will be ready to cut down the nets this time around. I have them beating LSU in round 2, Gonzaga in the Sweet 16, and Syracuse in the Elite Eight. I have Western Kentucky moving on in a 12 over 5 upset for the second straight year, and Michigan over Clemson in the 10 vs. 7 game.
West Region
Connecticut proves it was deserving of its No. 1 seed by defeating Memphis in the Elite Eight to reach the Final Four but Coach Calipari should still be happy as his boys make a deep run for the third straight year. It takes defense to win championships and I expect Hasheem Thabeet to be a major factor defensively for the Huskies. I have them over Texas A&M in round 2 and Purdue in the Sweet 16. Maryland shows the strength of the ACC by upsetting 7 seed Cal, but other than that I expect most higher seeds to advance. Mizzou should hit a road block when it meets Marquette in the second round though.
I am entering the tournament on a tear with my college basketball picks and I’m ready to keep you beating the basketball odds through the NCAA Championship Game. Do your NCAA basketball betting with me and plan on riding the money train.
