2010 NBA Mock Draft: Top Ten

Written by -

1. Washington Wizards: John Wall – Derrick Rose played point guard for John Calipari for one year, went to the NBA and won Rookie of the Year honors. Tyreke Evans followed suit. My money’s on John Wall to pull off the Trifecta.

2. Philadelphia 76ers: Evan Turner – This might be getting a little cliche, but Turner’s game really does resemble that of Portland Trail Blazers’ star Brandon Roy. Not shabby company to be mentioned alongside. Turner averaged 20.4 points, 6.0 assists and 9.2 rebounds for Ohio State last season. He can do a little bit of everything.

3. New Jersey Nets: Derrick Favors – The Nets have a very explosive guard in Devin Harris so they need to keep surrounding him with athletes. The 6-foot-9 favors is extremely athletic and a great finisher around the rim. He shot over 61 percent from the field last season.

4. Minnesota Timberwolves: Wesley Johnson – Johnson has a little Dwayne Wade in his game. He’s an athletic player who can get to the rim and shoot the medium-range jumper. He really took the Big East by storm last season at Syracuse.

5. Sacramento Kings: DeMarcus Cousins – Some think Cousins should go No. 1 while others think he should drop out of the top ten. At 6-foot-11, 280 pounds he has a skill set that wows, and that makes him worthy of this spot in my opinion. He might be a bit of a work in progress, but so was Andrew Bynum, and he is starting to pan out nicely.

6. Golden State Warriors: Greg Monroe – This kid is ridiculously skilled for a big man. He reminds me a little bit of Pau Gasol, and he’s versatile enough to play up and down in the Warriors system.

7. Detroit Pistons: Ed Davis – Davis has NBA pedigree (Terry Davis is his dad), and he might have been even higher up the board had it not been for a wrist injury last season. Has the look of a double-double machine and the toughness to don the uniform that the bad boys once wore.

8. Los Angeles Clippers: Al-Farouq Aminu – He could end up being a really good pro. He rebounds the ball well (10.7 boards per game last season) and he will benefit from being around other great players. He just had to do to much for Wake and it often got him into turnover trouble.

9. Utah Jazz: Cole Aldrich – It’s the second coming of Greg Ostertag. Scary huh. Aldrich can score in the post and gives the Jazz some much-needed size and toughness on the interior.

10. Indiana Pacers: Patrick Patterson – The word “solid” comes to mind when I think of Patterson. This guy reminds me of Carlos Boozer.
