San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals Odds
The San Francisco 49ers (10-2) will be looking for a 10th victory in 11 games when they visit the surging Arizona Cardinals (5-7) Sunday.
The 49ers are currently listed as a 3.5-point favorite with the total set at 39.5.
San Francisco was able to bounce back from a Thanksgiving night loss to the Baltimore Ravens with a 26-0 home win over the St. Louis Rams.
Alex Smith completed 17 of 23 passes for 274 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Four passes, including one of the touchdown tosses, found the hands of Michael Crabtree, who led the team with 96 receiving yards.
Frank Gore led the way on the ground with 73 of the team’s 144 rushing yards.
The Cardinals won for the fourth time in five games with a 19-13 overtime win at home over the Dallas Cowboys.
Kevin Kolb completed 16 of 25 passes for 247 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in his return from injury. Six completions went to Andre Roberts, who led the team with 111 receiving yards.
LaRod Stephens-Howling caught the lone touchdown pass.
Beanie Wells led the rushing attack with 67 yards and a score on 20 carries.
Wells likely won’t find much running room against San Francisco’s league-leading run defense, which gives up just 71.8 yards per game. This means Kolb will have to play well if the Cardinals hope to pull off the upset.
The 49ers have been susceptible to the pass at times. They rank 16th in the NFL with 231.6 passing yards allowed per contest.
It is worth noting the 49ers could be without stud linebacker Patrick Willis, who injured his hamstring against the Rams. He isn’t expected to practice this week and is currently listed as doubtful.
It’s no secret San Francisco will be looking to run the football with its seventh-ranked rushing attack which averages 130 yards per game.
The Cardinals enter Week 14 ranked 19th against the run with 119.4 yards allowed per contest but have held the Rams and Cowboys to 86 and 75 rushing yards respectively in back-to-back wins.
The Cards didn’t have much success slowing down the 49er running attack in the season’s first meeting however. The 49ers rushed for 164 yards in a 23-7 victory on Nov. 20.
San Francisco has won the last five in this series with the last four wins all coming by double digits.
The 49ers have been the play in this matchup recently, covering the spread in each of the last six meetings. They are even 5-0 against the number in their last five at Arizona.
However, the 49ers are just 3-9-1 against the spread in their last 13 games as a road favorite.
As far as the total is concerned, the under has been the play. These two have played to the under in four of the last five meetings.
