Air Force at Army Football Betting Odds & Picks

Air Force collides with Army at Michie Satdium in West Point, New York Saturday November 1st in a battle of Military branches. Odds makers are sticking with the history books in figuring that Air Force will win the game. Bookmaker has listed the Falcons as 8.5-point favorites with the total set at 40.
This is the second leg of the Commander-in-Chief series for the Air Force Falcons who have already beaten Navy earlier this season.
The Falcons bring a three-game winning streak into this contest, beating New Mexico 23-10 most recently on October 23rd.
The Army Black Knights bring some momentum into this rivalry game with three wins in their last four games. Last Saturday, Army shut down the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a 14-7 win. Hopefully the defense will be every bit as good this week against a good running football team.
Air Force has dominated this all-time series with a 28-13-1 advantage. It won 30-10 last season to pick up its 10th win in the last 11 meetings against Army.
This year’s Army team is much improved and will be looking to pay Air Force back with home field on its side this season.
Saying that Air Force is a running team may be the understatement of the century. The Falcons had only one pass completion for one yard last week, but that completion was a touchdown from QB Tim Jefferson to Travis Dekker.
Jefferson is known for doing much more damage with his legs. He was one of three Air Force players with at least 60 yards rushing last week.
Kicker Ryan Harrison was particularly big in the win as he nailed three field goals and also punted the ball very well, good enough in fact to earn MWC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
The passing game averages only 80.9 yards per game while the running attack is fourth in the nation with a 291 yards per game average.
The defense was by far the better side of the ball last week for Air Force however. Aaron Kirchoff was named the MWC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in corralling a fumble inside his own five and racing 96 yards in the other direction for a score. The play was huge as Air Force was trailing 10-0 at the time.
Army is going to have to take good care of the ball this week as Air Force has 14 fumble recoveries and six interceptions on the season. If you think the Falcons are 9 points better than Army this week, bet Air Force at -8.5 at Bookmaker and receive a 20% cash sign up bonus.
Ian Smith was the big story on offense for the Black Knight last week with both of Army’s touchdowns. Smith ran the ball in for the first score and was on the receiving end of a pass for the second. Like Air Force, Army went light on the passing last week. QB Chip Bowden was just 3 of 9 for 32 yards. He did rush for 50 of the teams 203 yards on the ground.
Army has followed the model of Air Force and Navy and shifted their offense into an even more aggressive running attack this season. The move has paid off as Army ranks eighth in the country with 246.8 yards per game.
Army’s defense has been equally important to the team’s recent success. The Black Knights limited Louisiana Tech to only 68 yards rushing and were able to sack the QB five times. Stephen Anderson was an animal with 10 tackles, including three behind the line of scrimmage.
With six interceptions and five fumble recoveries the Army defense has done well at getting takeaways to put the ball in the hands of the offense more often. If you think the Black Knight’s have what it takes to give Air Force a scare at home, bet Army at +8.5 at Bookmaker.
