Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants NFL Betting & Odds
The 3-2 defending NFC champion Arizona Cardinals take on the 5-1 New York Giants on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in a Week 7 NFC showdown. Last week, the Cardinals showed the Seahawks that they are the still the team to beat in the West with a 27-3 rout while the Giants fell 48-27 to the Saints for their first loss of the season. These teams last met in Week 12 of last season with Eli Manning outdueling Kurt Warner in a 37-29 Giants win. The Giants have won six of the last eight meetings and hold a commanding 79-41-2 advantage in the all-time series. NFL odds makers expect New York to get right back in the win column this week, listing the Giants as a 7-point favorite with the total set at 46.

Much of New York’s success over the past few seasons has correlated with boasting the league’s fiercest pass rush. That pass rush didn’t get the job done against the Saints last week and Drew Brees was able to pick them apart for 369 yards and four touchdowns. Kurt Warner is certainly capable of having the same kind of day if the Giants don’t bring the heat, especially against a banged up secondary. I’ll be watching end Justin Tuck Sunday as the Giants are 15-3 when he records a sack.
Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith isn’t the only frustrated player in the NFL. Giants running back Brandon Jacobs, who ran all over defenses last season, is struggling early on, only averaging 3.6 yards per carry. He carried only seven times against the Saints last week. He and Ahmad Bradshaw, who leads the league with a 6.2 yards per carry average, will need to come up big this week against an Arizona run defense that is only allowing 2.8 yards per carry this season. If they can grind out tough yards up inside, the Giants should be able to find some big plays via play-action. It is worth noting that the Giants are a perfect 7-0 against the spread in their last seven games after allowing more than 30 points in their previous game. If you like New York to bounce back strong at home, bet the Giants at -7 at BetUS.
Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald got off to a slow start, but he is kicking it into high gear now. Over the last two weeks, he has 18 grabs for 179 yards and three touchdowns. After seeing Marques Colston school the New York secondary for 166 yards and a touchdown on eight catches, Fitzgerald could be poised for a huge day.
The Cardinals only allowed 14 yards rushing last week to set a new team record, but they will be tested by a very physical New York offensive line and a pair of very talented tailbacks. If the Cards allow New York to get its ground game going, they aren’t going to have much of a chance. If they can keep it under wraps, defensive end Bertrand Berry can go to work rushing the passer. Berry has six sacks in his last three games against the Giants. It is worth noting that the Cardinals are a perfect 5-0 against the number in their last five games as an underdog. If you like this trend to continue, bet the Cardinals at +7 at BetUS.
