Ball State at Miami Ohio Football Picks & Odds

Ball State comes into their Tuesday night matchup with Miami of Ohio undefeated at 9-0 and if they can close out the season strong there is a strong likelihood they will be playing in a BCS bowl game come January. The 14th-ranked Cardinals will just have to avoid a let down against the Redhawks. The college football odds on this game have posted Ball State as a 19.5 point favorite over Miami with the total set at 54.5.
The talk of an undefeated season for Ball State started several weeks ago, but after last Wednesday’s 45-14 win over Northern Illinois the team has been thrust into the national spotlight. Now, the team just needs to stay undefeated as they take on two tough conference rivals in the following two weeks. Central Michigan is tied with Ball State in the MAC Standings, and both teams are a half game up on Western Michigan. Those two teams will try to knock off the Cardinals over the next two weeks. Even with those big games on the horizon, head coach Brady Hoke thinks his team will take Miami seriously on Tuesday night. His team knows the goal is to make a BCS game and how important every game is. With so many seniors to lead the young guys, this team should stay focused.
Oh yeah, and if the players don’t look like they are taking Miami seriously enough, Hoke just has to throw in the tape of the season opener for 2007 when the Redhawks beat the Cardinals 14-13 on their home field. Ball State’s offense is getting the job done this year, scoring 38.3 points per game and gaining 458.4 yards per game. Both marks rank 11th in the nation as this Cardinal team looked good last week picking apart the top ranked defense in the Mid-American Conference. The Cardinals had 529 yards against Northern Illinois with quarterback Nate Davis completing 18-of-22 for 300 yards and four scores. MiQuale Lewis added 119 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, giving him his seventh game of the year that he passed the century mark. He now ranks 10th in college football with 1,108 rushing yards and is fourth with 15 rushing touchdowns. Look for Lewis to have a solid Tuesday night peformance as the RedHawks have allowed 521 rushing yards in their last two games.
Miami is coming off a loss last Tuesday to Buffalo, 37-17. They gave up 476 yards and now have been outscored by a total of 91-38 over their last two games. Freshman JR Taylor is the team’s bright spot on offense as he has 309 rushing yards and two touchdowns over the past three games.
The good news for Miami fans is that they have won three of their last four against the Cardinals, but have dropped the last two in the series played in Oxford. You can bet Miami +19.5 at BetUS and get up to 145% in signup bonuses!
