Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles Odds
The Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) will be going for a third straight victory when they host the Chicago Bears (4-3) on Monday Night Football.
The Eagles are currently listed as an eight-point favorite with the total set at 47.
The Eagles looked like the team many expected them to be in Week 8, recording a 34-7 home win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Michael Vick was terrific. He completed 21 of 28 passes for 279 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions and added 50 yards on the ground on seven carries.
The Cowboys didn’t have an answer for LeSean McCoy, who rushed for 185 yards and two scores.
Brent Celek led the team with seven catches for 94 yards and a touchdown.
The Bears, who are coming off a bye week, were last in action on Oct. 23 when they recorded a 24-18 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in London.
Chicago jumped out to a 21-5 lead and held off a late surge.
Matt Forte carried the load for the Bears, rushing for 145 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.
Jay Cutler completed 17 of 32 passes for 226 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. Four of those completions, including the touchdown toss, went to Roy Williams, who led the team with 59 receiving yards.
Chicago must be able to slow down Philly’s vaunted rushing attack in order to have a chance Monday night.
The Bears had issues with the run in their first five weeks when they allowed 135.6 yards per game on the ground, but they might have figured something out. They’ve held the Vikings and Bucs to 53 and 30 rushing yards respectively in back-to-back wins.
The Eagles lead the NFL in rushing with 180 yards per game.
McCoy ranks second in the league 754 rushing yards.
Like Chicago, Philly began the season with all kinds of problems against the run but has since come around.
The Eagles started the season 1-4 as they allowed an average of 140.2 yards per game on the ground. They’ve given up an average of 63.5 rushing yards in consecutive wins.
Philly could be tested by a Chicago rushing attack that has averaged 160.5 yards per game over its last four contests.
Forte currently ranks fourth in the NFC with 672 rushing yards.
The Eagles have won seven of the last 11 in this series, but the Bears have won three of the last four, including a 31-26 home win last season on Nov. 28, 2010.
The Bears also won the most recent meeting in Philadelphia – a 19-16 victory on Oct. 21, 2007.
The underdog has covered the spread in seven of the last nine meetings in this series, but some bettors could have trouble pulling the trigger on a Bears team that is just 4-11-1 against the spread in its last 16 games as a road underdog.
In regard to the total, the under just might be the play. The Eagles have played to the under in five of their last six at home, and the Bears have finished under the number in 20 of their last 28 on the road.
