OddsChicago Bears v. Minnesota Vikings Betting OddsThe Bears Vikings odds for the Monday Night contest between these two NFC North rivals are important since Minnesota is in the driver's seat when it comes to picking up the NFC's second wild card berth. The Vikings have gone under the radar this year after starting out the season just 2-5, but after four straight wins Minnesota finds themselves in contention. The Bears on the other hand are fading fast and are all but automatically eliminated from this year's playoff picture. What a difference a year makes as it appears the the Super Bowl loser curse is back in full effect this season.
All of a sudden Minnesota's offense has caught fire, putting up 35 points per game (ppg) over their latest winning streak, and after their 27-7 win over the 49ers last Sunday the team has now outscored opponents 110-34 in their last three games. The city and the team are now energized by the fact they control their own destiny and the team has a chance to reach the playoffs for the first time since the 2004 season. This game and most from here on out are going to be must wins since their lead in the Wild Card is a single game and there are four teams waiting in the wings. The first game of the season between these two rivals was back on October 14th, in Soldier Field and the Vikings came out on top 34-31 after a career-long 55-yard field goal by Ryan Longwell. Adrian Peterson was the difference with 224 yards rushing, the most ever by a back against the Bears in team history. He had three scores on the day and also returned a kickoff 53 yards to set up the Longwell game-winner. However, Peterson has had to suffer through some recent injuries and had only three yards on 14 carries last game. He still is only 17 yards behind Willie Parker for the league lead in rushing, despite missing two complete games due to a knee injury. Chicago did hold the potent Redskin ground game to just 31 yards rushing last week, but that only put a dent in lowering their 123.2 ypg they have been giving up against opposing rushers in 2007. The Bears stand at 5-8 and have lost three of four. Now they are turning to Kyle Orton after Rex Grossman went out with a season-ending knee injury against Washington. Brian Griese had his chance to shine in six starts but was unable to, so Lovie Smith thought Orton was worth a look. The injury bug has hit the Bears pretty hard as Cedric Benson will be out and the other Adrian Peterson will take his starting spot. Take a look at the odds from BetUS Sportsbook: Chicago Bears
+10 The total is set at over/under 43
