History of the Game

The Bowl Championship Series started back in 1998 after years of debate. All Division I football schools and conferences are contractually bound to participate in the BCS System. This was the first true national championship type of game in college football’s history. From 1998-2005 the championship game rotated between the Fiesta, Sugar, Orange, and Rose Bowls, but then a fifth game was added both to increase ratings and to have more schools have the chance to play in these lucrative games. The teams playing in the BCS National Championship are always the top two teams in the final BCS rankings. Those rankings are based off of the computer rankings and human polls with the system being tweaked almost every year due to debate on how the previous system came up short.

Ohio State comes into this game at 11-1 SU and 7-4 ATS while LSU is 10-2 SU and 4-7 ATS. Both of these teams have been leaning towards the over with it hitting six of eleven times for the Buckeyes and nine of twelve for the Tigers. Ohio State is averaging 32 ppg while only allowing 10.7 ppg to the opposition. LSU has been almost has tough with 40.2 ppg on offense and a defense that allows 20.1 ppg. Hopefully this will help you decide who to take with your college bowl picks.
