With Big Brown having a great shot at winning horse racing's first Triple Crown in 30 years, it gives horse racing bettors a chance to take more action on Big Brown that just betting if he will win the race. For example, one prop you can bet on is if Big Brown and Curlin will race each other this year? Curlin was voted the horse of the year and was the 2007 Preakness Stakes winner, 2007 Breeder's Cup Classic winner, and the 2008 Dubai World Cup champ. While it would be a race that would get plenty of attention, especially if Big Brown wins the Triple Crown, oddsmakers don't see it as very likely to happen judging by the value they are giving those who think it will. Oddsmakers have matched Big Brown and Curlin again for a prop dealing with margin of victory. The wager posed by oddsmakers is which horse will win by more lengths in their upcoming races. This wager pits Big Browns margin of victory in the Belmont Stakes against Curlin's in the Stephen Foster handicap the following week. Oddsmakers have listed Curlin as the slight favorite.

So he's been outside this favored margin in one race and inside of it in the other. Since he won he a larger margin in the longer race, expect some prop bettors to take Big Brown to win by 6-10 lengths to get 7-2 odds.

Saying that he will be first or second comes in at even money and the odds actually get worse saying he will be in the third to fifth position. This tells you that oddsmakers feel he will stalk the pack in the beginning.
