Blazers’ Brandon Roy Injured
Brandon Roy of the Portland Trail Blazers missed two games recently with a strained right hamstring injury. Roy returned to the lineup Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers and made the problem worse. Now, after getting another opinion, the Oregonian reports that Roy will miss another week before being evaluated again next Thursday. That would mean that he will miss a minimum of four more games. In his absence, Jarryd Bayless is expected to pick up more minutes.
This injury comes as a major blow to the Blazers, which are already dealing with injuries to notables Joel Przybilla, Greg Oden, and Travis Outlaw. It will be interesting to see who steps up for the Blazers to replace Roy’s 23.1 points and 5.0 assists per game.
The Blazers figure to get a major test tonight in Boston against a Celtics team that is expecting the return of Kevin Garnett. The Celtics have certainly struggled without their superstar and the Blazers are hoping that they won’t share the same fate. But NBA odds makers expect tonight’s matchup to be a tough one for Portland, listing the Blazers as a 10.5-point underdog with the total set at 185.
