Boise State at Tulsa Betting Lines

This Saturday night the No. 4 Boise State Broncos finally get their home opener as they host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.  Game time is 8:00 PM EST and the latest odds show Boise favored by 28.5 points with the total set for 62 points.  These teams have met just five times in the past with Boise State positing a 5-0 mark so far in the series.

Boise State is off to yet another hot start with wins over both Georgia and Toledo marking the fourth straight time the team has started their season 2-0.  Tulsa enters the game at 1-2 following their loss last week against Oklahoma State.  The Hurricane also fell to the No. 1 team in the nation, Oklahoma, in their opener.  Their one win on the season came over Tulane in Conference USA action.

The big news in this one is the status of Tulsa quarterback G.J. Kinne, who is now expected to miss two to four weeks with a knee injury.  Kinne was the catalyst of the Hurricane offense being the only player in program history to throw for over 6,000 yards and run for 1,000.  Replacing Kinne is red-shirt freshman Kalen Henderson, who has a plus arm, but almost no college experience.

As far as quarterbacks go, there might not be a better fit for a team than Boise signal-caller Kellen Moore.  He’s coming off of an impressive performance at Toledo last week, throwing for 455 yards and five touchdowns on 32-of-42 passing.  Moore manages this offense as well as any other quarterback in the nation.  He almost always looks comfortable in the pocket and has a great ability to check-down through his receivers and find an open man.

Predictions

This is a terrible position for Tulsa with Kinne out.  Henderson could very well develop into the future leader of this team at some point, but on the road against the No. 4 team in the nation in one of the toughest places to play in all of football does is not the best place for a young quarterback to learn the ropes of a complex offense.

Boise State continues to impress and, unfortunately for the Golden Hurricane, they know they must score as much as possible to help raise their upcoming BCS rating if they want a chance to finally play for the National Championship.  Boise’s defense is one of the most underrated units in the nation (probably because their offense is always so impressive), but they will almost certainly give this Tulsa squad fits.  Boise wins in a blowout.

Final Score Prediction: Boise State 56, Tulsa 20
