Boyd’s Free Bets: January 8, 2009

Written by Jimmy Boyd on January 8, 2009

I’m still on top as the hottest capper in the planet over the last seven days thanks to a strong 4-1 Wednesday performance with my basketball picks. The highlights of the day were cashing in my 5* NCAAB Underdog of the Month by double digits on Harvard as a 19-point underdog against a Boston College team which just knocked off No. 1 ranked North Carolina. I also connected with my 5* Late Night NBA Bailout with the Jazz crushing the Hornets by 26 as just a 4-point favorite.

I have nailed 9 of my last 14 bowl picks and have also cashed in 9 of my last 12 5* Top Plays (No. 1 ranked Top Play Capper L7 days)! You don’t want to miss my one and only Florida/Oklahoma 5* NCAAF Bowl Game of the Year tonight! Three NCAA basketball best bets, including my 4* Major Homer of the Month will keep you cashing on the hardwood. Make sure you check out the Jimmy Boyd homepage for more great stats and details on today’s card.

Thursday’s Free Picks

I do not personally bet any of these games as they are my weakest leans of the day and will not hit at as high of a percentage as the plays I have on the premium side. If you’re interested in where I got these lines, check out my NCAA basketball odds page.

Washington State pk

True, this Washington State team is not as good as the one we’ve seen the past couple seasons, but it’s defense at home still gets my attention tonight. After losing to rival Washington at home by 20 points, I expect the Cougars to be out for blood tonight. Washington State is only allowing 50.8 points per game this season and it is even a little bit better at home, giving up just 49.4 points per game. Offensively, the Cougars are due after being held under 60 in three straight games and that is a number they should reach considering that Cal is giving up 74.2 points per game on the road this season. Washington State has beaten Cal straight up and against the spread in three of the last four meetings and because of thet will not be lacking any confidence tonight. Lastly, I’ll let the numbers do the talking. Plays against road teams as an underdog or pick, an excellent offensive team (>=76 PPG) against an excellent defensive team (<=63 PPG), after 3 straight wins by 10 points or more are 57-25 against the spread since 1997. That’s a 69.5 percent success rate. Bet the Washington State Cougars at BetUS and receive up to 145% in sign up bonuses.

Wright State +10.5

This is a big rivalry matchup which always goes down to the wire. Each of the last three matchups have been decided by five points or less and the winner in nine of the last 11 meetings has won by single digits. Butler has had better teams in recent years but that hasn’t kept Wright State from spoiling its fun. The Raiders are 3-2 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in all meetings over the last three seasons. And while Butler has won eight of the last 11 at home, the Raiders have covered the spread in seven of those 11 games at Butler. It’s also hard to resist the Raiders as an underdog as they are 21-6 against the spread in their last 27 games as an underdog and Raiders are 11-2 against the spread in their last 13 games as a road underdog. Bet Wright State at +10.5 at Bookmaker and receive a 20% cash sign up bonus.

Denver +2

You have to like what Arkansas State has done this year, winning 10 of its first 14 games, but it comes up against one of the strongest little know home teams in the country tonight. Denver is just 6-8 this season, but it is 7-3 against the spread in all lined games. It is 5-1 straight up and 3-1 against the spread in home lined games. The Pioneers have covered the spread in their last five lined contests and after picking up two losses out on the road, they’ll be happy to be back at home tonight. Denver is a perfect 5-0 against the spread in this matchup at home since 1997 and 10-4 against the spread versus the Red Wolves in all games since 1997. We’ll take the home dog here. Bet Denver at +2 at BetUS.
