OddsDenver Broncos v. San Diego Chargers Odds & PredictionsIt's the Denver Broncos v. San Diego Chargers on Monday Night football, and here is our take on the betting matchup and odds for those of you making your own predictions on the game. If you want our against the spread winner then get signed up for Jimmy's NFL picks and end week 16 on a winning note. San Diego has really turned their season around after a slow start and it's been largely because LaDanian Tomlinson and the rushing attack has picked things up. Denver on the other hand has been heading downhill fast and will be on the outside looking in come playoff time for the second straight season. With the Chargers sitting at 6-1 SU at home this year, it's no surprise the bookmakers see this one going San Diego's way.
Denver comes into this game at a disappointing 6-8 straight up (SU) and a lot of the reason has been their poor play on the road. Jay Cutler hasn't been himself without Javon Walker out there, but Brandon Marshall is showing that he is capable of being a no. 1 guy with how he's racked up the yards after catch (YAC). The problem has been there really isn't another threat out there at wideout. The rushing game has moved the ball to the tune of 124.1 yards per game (ypg), but could find themselves having trouble against a Charger defense that is allowing only 107 ypg and has really come on strong over the last couple of weeks. San Diego is now 9-5 SU and has to be licking their chops at this matchup. The ground game is now gaining 126.6 ypg while the Broncos allow opponents to run for more than 140 ypg. This is going to be a dream situation for LaDanian Tomlinson who is starting to look more like his MVP-self. Last week he didn't get to put up his gaudy numbers since the team was up so much, then Sproles and Turner had to come in and continue the pounding. If you have LT in the finals of your fantasy football league, then you should be in for a big chunk of points coming from your top running back. Philip Rivers isn't the Pro Bowl caliber player he was hyped up to be last year, but once Chris Chambers got to San Diego and started to feel comfortable the passing game got a nice boost. The Broncos are strong in the secondary with Champ Bailey and Dre Bly and the Chargers don't have an a ton of talent at receiver, so look for them to ground and pound for most of the game. Here are some interesting trends on the game: Denver is 1-6 ATS their last seven on the road San Diego is 5-0 ATS in their last five at home Take a look at the odds from BetUS Sportsbook: Denver Broncos
-7.5 The total is set at over/under 46 December 21st, 2007 |
