Cal Golden Bears at Arizona Wildcats Football Betting Odds & Picks

The Arizona Wildcats host the Cal Golden Bears in a big Pac-10 Conference showdown Saturday night on Fox Sports Network. Odds makers have given the 25th ranked Bears the chalk, installing them as 2.5-point favorites with the total set at 54.5. Make sure you consult Jimmy Boyd’s college football picks for a guaranteed winner on this game.
Cal remains the last of the Pac-10 unbeaten teams and it will have rest and preparation on its side this week coming off of a bye.
Cal beat Arizona State 24-14 back on October 4th when it was last in action.
The Wildcats limp home off a very disappointing loss to Stanford in a game in which the Cats held a 10-point advantage. The Wildcats allowed a third string signal caller orchestrate a game-winning drive in the final minutes.
This series has been about as tight as they come with the Bears clinging to a slight 13-12-2 all-time advantage. Cal ran up the score on the Cats last season with a 45-27 win in Berkeley.
Cal has a keeper with Jahvid Best, who leads the country in all-purpose yardage with 215.5 yards per game. Best missed the ASU game with a dislocated elbow, but the team is hopeful that the bye week will get him back in commission.

QB Nate Longshore had lost his job in training camp to Kevin Riley, but coach Tedford gave Longshore the nod against the Sun Devils and the senior delivered with a 198-yard, three touchdown performance while leading his team to victory. The Cal offense is averaging 39.4 points per game this season.
The Wildcats will have to make sure a body is on Cal defensive end Cameron Jordan at all times. He came up big against ASU with a pair of sacks and a forced fumble. His pressure limited then-leading Pac-10 passer Rudy Carpenter to only 165 yards. Cal ranks ninth in the country in pass efficiency defense but that will be tested once again by a strong Arizona air attack. If you think the 25th ranked Bears will remain unbeaten in Pac-10 play, bet Cal at -2.5 at Bookmaker.
Prior to settling for three field goals at Palo Alto last Saturday, the Wildcats had been very efficient in the red zone. Has Arizona been able to punch it into the end zone on just one of those red zone trips, we would be looking at a battle of ranked one-loss teams.
QB Willie Tuitama was 22 of 34 for 259 yards. Last week’s biggest disappointment was that Stanford saw two fourth quarter drives stall inside the Stanford five yard line.
The defense is going to have to be sharper this week after allowing 286 rushing yards to Stanford. Not one, but two, Cardinal player ran for the century mark. While the Cats are allowing 261.5 rushing yards per game this season, they are leading the nation is pass defense, giving up just 124 yards per game. The Cats were especially rough on the Cardinal QB’s last week.
They knocked Stanford starter Tavita Pritchard out of the game in the first half and then forced backup Jason Forcier into a pair of fumbles and an interception before he was pulled. If you think the Wildcats can bounce back from a tough defeat, bet Arizona at +2.5 at Bookmaker.
Jimmy Boyd has gotten to the bottom of another mess of football betting lines this week and you can count on him to deliver with his free football picks.
