Arizona Cardinals at Philadelphia Eagles Odds

Written by Jimmy Boyd on November 9, 2011

The Arizona Cardinals (2-6) may not have their starting quarterback on the field when they visit the Philadelphia Eagles (3-5) Sunday for a Week 10 NFC non-division showdown.

Kevin Kolb sat out last week’s 19-13 overtime win against the St. Louis Rams and is currently listed as questionable for this week’s matchup against his former team.

The Eagles will be favored Sunday but by how much? Odds makers are yet to set a line for this game as they wait on Kolb’s status.

If Kolb isn’t able to go, second-year signal caller John Skelton will make his second straight start.

Skelton completed 20 of 35 pass attempts for 222 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions last Sunday. He also led the team in rushing with 38 yards on four carries.

Star wideout Larry Fitzgerald hauled in Skelton’s third career touchdown pass but Early Doucet led the Cards in receiving with six catches for 78 yards.

Just when it looked like the Eagles might be getting it going, their two-game win streak was snapped with a 30-24 home loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Eagles took a 24-20 lead into the fourth but were outscored 10-0 in the final frame.

Michael Vick was held in check. He completed 21 of 38 passes for 213 yards with an interception and carried the pigskin five times for just 34 yards.

LeSean McCoy, who leads the NFL with 825 rushing yards, managed 71 yards and a score on 16 carries.

Former Mizzou star Jeremy Maclin led the Eagles with 63 receiving yards on four receptions.

There a good chance Philly will have more success on offense this week against an Arizona defense that ranks 28th in the NFL with 389.8 yards allowed per game.

The Eagles, who lead the NFL with 172.4 rushing yards per game, will be looking to bounce back from their second-lowest rushing output of the season.

Keep in mind Philly is 3-0 when it rushes for at least 190 yards and 0-5 when it doesn’t.

Arizona hasn’t given up more than 172 rushing yards in any game this season, but it is just 1-4 when allowing its opponents to break the century mark on the ground.

Big special teams plays from rookie cornerback Patrick Peterson have been the common denominator in both of Arizona’s wins.

Peterson had a game-winning 89-yard punt return touchdown against Carolina in Week 1 and a game-winning 99-yard punt return score against St. Louis last week.

These teams have split the last 10 meetings with the Cardinals winning the most recent one 32-25 at home on Jan. 18, 2009.

The Eagles won the most recent meeting in Philly 48-20 on Nov. 27, 2008.

The home team is 4-0 against the spread in the last four meetings.

It can be difficult when playing on a short week, but the Eagles haven’t been fazed in this situation, going 6-1-1 against the number in their last eight games when playing on Sunday following a Monday nighter.

As far as the total is concerned, the over has been the play. These two have combined to finish over the total in each of the last four meetings.
