Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks Week 11 NFL Betting & Odds

Written by Jimmy Boyd

On paper this looks like a major mismatch with the NFC West-leading 6-3 Arizona Cardinals taking on the 2-7 Seattle Seahawks, but odds makers are expecting another tight division game. Last week’s near-loss to San Francisco and shaky road play likely has odds makers listing the Cardinals as just 3-point favorites with the total set at 47.5.

This game could symbolize a passing of the torch as the Seattle Seahawks’ four-year reign atop the NFC West appears to be coming to an end. Arizona would like nothing more than to win its first division title in 33 years and it can take one step closer to doing so with a big win this Sunday. The Seahawks have been a dominant 17-7 in division games during their four-year run as NFC West champs, but this year’s team hasn’t played like a contender. Injuries have plagued the offense. Seattle ranks 30th in the NFL, gaining just 260.2 yards per game and 27th in scoring at 18.9 points per game. And unfortunately the defense has not been good enough to carry the load. It ranks 27th in the NFL by giving up 372.1 yards per game. Barring a miracle, Seattle will miss the postseason for the first time since 2002. I can assure you that Mike Holmgren’s club will not go down without a fight and the return of Pro Bowl QB Matt Hasselbeck should help stimulate the offense. Hasselbeck hasn’t played since Oct. 5 because of knee and back injuries, but took all the first-team snaps in Friday’s practice. Coach Mike Holmgren said his three-time Pro Bowl passer is ready to start for the first time in six weeks against the Cardinals. Hasselbeck will lead an offense which hasn’t broke the 300 total yards mark since his last full game in the lineup on September 21. The Seahawks showed signs of improvement, even without Hasselbeck, in last Sunday’s 21-19 loss to Miami though, nearly reaching the 300 yard mark. Bet the Seahawks at +3 if you think having Hasselbeck back in the lineup gives them the lift they need.

Doing your NFL betting on the Cardinals this season has been a profitable venture. Arizona is 6-3 on the season and looking to earn its first trip to the postseason since 1998. Arizona should get the job done as it is the only team in the West with more than two wins. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has the Cards off to their best start since 1984. Arizona did not play like an elite team last Monday night, coming from behind to outlast the 49ers 29-24. The Cardinals committed 10 penalties for 71 yards in that game and struggled to make tackles. They also struggled in the red zone, converting on only three of six possessions inside the 20 yard line. Penalties are drive killers and they are mental mistakes that can give lesser teams chances to beat you and that’s exactly what we saw last Monday. Fortunately for Arizona, they were able to survive. Coach Whisenhunt tends to look at the positives as sited Arizona’s goal line stand as a big accomplishment to earn the victory. Arizona has lost five straight games in Seattle, but it appears it finally has the better team. Bet the Cardinals at -3 if you think they can cover the number this week.
