There’s no place like Sin City to wager on sports. If you have never made the trip, you need to start planning one. March Madness is an excellent time to go and it will be here before you know it. As is the case with online sportsbooks, some Vegas sportsbooks are better than others. I’d like to take this opportunity to share with you a few or my favorite Las Vegas sportsbooks so that you can check them out for yourself next time you are in town.

MGM Grand Race and Sportsbook
After placing your bets at the MGM Grand, you’re not going to find any reason to leave as there are TV’s all over the place to watch all the games you are betting on. With 47 plasma big screen televisions (36 60-inch screens, eight 42-inch sets, and three 16-foot-by-12-foot monster screens) and 49 more individual 15-inch TV’s, this is the ultimate place for sports wagering action. A great wait staff keeps the drinks coming and there is always a bar near by if you need a cold one on the double. Lines are usually posted by 9 a.m. so you can wake up, do a little research, and put together your winning card. One of its newer features is its four second-level skyboxes fitting 8 to 10 people. This is a great way to take in all the action with your friends.

New York-New York Race and Sportsbook
I like New York New York because there aren’t very many better places in Las Vegas to eat and drink and catch a game than the ESPN Zone which is located right next to the Sportsbook inside New-York New York. The book itself is small, nothing like the MGM, but this one is all about the ESPN Zone. The sports book area features just six big-screen and three smaller TVs but they all have high quality pictures. The chairs in the sportsbook area are big and comfortable but just head on over to ESPN Zone to watch the action at New York-New York. Trust me.

Mirage Race and Sportsbook
The Mirage has been around since 1989 now, but I still think this is one of the best places to stay and gamble in the city. A great pool, a rainforest, a volcano, white tigers, and a dolphin tank are just a few of the interesting things that make this hotel unique. With all that hype, it just wouldn’t work if the sportsbook was a dinky little thing. The Mirage originates betting lines for MGM Grand, Ballagio, Treasure Island, and the Golden Nugget and offers a vast array of betting options that not all other books offer. The Mirage also makes its own rules. For example, at playoff and World Series time, odds to win the series are adjusted and updated after each game, rather than being taken down once Game 1 starts the way they do it at many casinos. You can bet the WNBA at the Mirage and also every game of the Women’s NCAA basketball Tournament (you won’t find lines on these things anywhere in Vegas). This gives the sharps even more artillery to cash in on. The Mirage does get quite a bit of traffic during weekends and during the Big Dance so make sure you get there early to ensure yourself a seat.

If you need any help with your sports wagering when you are in Sin City, make sure you give Jimmy Boyd a call to consult his expert sports picks to make sure you have a profitable trip. Start beating the sports odds with Jimmy Boyd today.

There are plenty of other great sports/events to wager on in the upcoming days/weeks that can satisfy your cravings. In this article, I’ll give you a rundown of some of those things you might want to take action on.

Bet the Pro Bowl at Sportsbook.com
While the Super Bowl is the last betting event of the season for most NFL fans, there are some serious NFL junkies out there who will bet the Pro Bowl as well. This is the absolute last NFL betting event of the season before we start lining up our futures bets. The Pro Bowl is often called the worst professional sports all-star game by the media, but there are still plenty of people who enjoy watching the best players in the game playing alongside each other. If you missed with your Super Bowl wager and you want to take one last crack at the books, consider betting the Pro Bowl. The NFC is a 2.5-point favorite with the total set at 64.5.

Bet the NBA/NCAAB at Sportsbook.com
When football season ends, most sports investors turn their full attention to college and pro basketball. This is an exciting time of year in the college ranks as teams are in the middle of their conference seasons. The Big East and the ACC have several teams ranked in the top 10 and provide great matchups to bet on each week. The NBA is nearing the All-Star break (you can bet on its All-Star game as well) and the Lakers, Celtics, and Cavaliers have been the top three teams in the league to this point. This Sunday, We have a pair of great matchups on ABC with the Spurs taking on the Celtics and the Lakers challenging the Cavs.

Bet the Daytona 500 at Sportsbook.com
Football and NASCAR seem to go hand in hand for some of our readers and the Super Bowl of Racing is approaching quickly (Feb. 15). Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Kyle Busch are the race day favorites. As NASCAR continues to gain popularity so does wagering on it. If you’ve never done it before, you may want to give it a go for Daytona.

Bet the UFC at Sportsbook.com
Like NASCAR, the popularity of MMA fighting and particularly the UFC continues to grow. I don’t know a guy that doesn’t like to watch two grown men punch, kick, tackle, and submit each other. Sportsbook.com has all of its odds listed for Saturday’s big Fight Night lineup and it also has odds up for UFC 95 on February 21.

Bet the Oscars at Sportsbook.com
If you get stuck watching the Oscars on Sunday February 22nd, you might as well make some extra cash to keep your mind off of going back to work in a few hours. You can bet on Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, and additional Oscar props. One such prop asks if the Best Supporting Actress winner will cry during their acceptance speech.

Jimmy Boyd’s NBA picks are punishing the NBA odds right now. Start NBA betting with Jimmy Boyd today and keep building your bankroll!

A question I am often asked is, “Should I hedge my parlay?” Well, first things first, I am not a fan of parlays as a mode of making money through betting on sports. Generally speaking it is not a good way to consistently turn a profit. With that being said, like so many things in life, parlays can be fun in moderation (and I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t indulge in a three or four-teamer from time to time).

What exactly do I mean by “hedge”?
If you’ve you bet on a few parlays in your day then you’ve no doubt been in a similar situation: You bet $10 on a 4-team parlay. At 10-1 odds you stand to make $100 if all four of your games hit, not bad. The games get started and you’re off to a great start. Your first three bets were easy winners, congratulations! The next game starts in about an hour and just think, you’re one win away from turning a $10 investment into $100 in just a few hours. But, “Ah-ha!” you say, “There’s a way for me guarantee that I make money now!” You’ve realized that if you hedge your bet you’re going to end up winning no matter what.

You see, you stand to make $100 if that final game hits, but if you hedge your bet by laying action on the opposite side of the final game you are going to profit as long as you bet more than your original $10 investment.

For example, say the Steelers are playing the Ravens in the final game of the night. In your parlay you have taken the Ravens +3.5. Instead of just crossing your fingers and hoping for Baltimore to cover, you could lay $55 (to win $50) on the Steelers to cover the 3.5. Now you’ve given yourself two possible outcomes, both of which would be a nice return on your $10 investment.

If the Ravens cover, great, you’ve won your parlay and the $100. So you’re sitting with $100, minus the $55 you wagered on the Steelers, for a winning balance of $45, a solid take.

Now what happens if the Steelers would have covered the spread? Obviously you are out your $10 wager, but you did cash in a $50 ticket on Pittsburgh, giving you a $40 profit on the day.

The Answer
So now you know how to hedge, the question is should you?

It might seem great in at first glance (free money, right?), but it does not maximize your potential profits. You have to give yourself about a 50% chance of winning that final game of the parlay, right? In the long term it would be more beneficial to ride the parlay out so you don’t lose the edge you’ve gained by increasing your odds (e.g. winning the first three games of a 4-team parlay).

Say you bet ten 4 team parlays at $10 a pop. By a miracle you win all three early games and have a chance to hedge your final bet in every situation. Using 50% as a base of about the percentage that an average sports bettor wins, what would be the results of hedging versus not hedging?

To Hedge
You’ve profited on every game, but lost your initial investment. A true hedge would net you about $42.50 on every parlay, a total gain of $425.

Or Not to Hedge
You hit 5 of your 10 four-team parlays (50%). You’ve lost $50 on the original parlay bets that lost, but won $500 as a result of the winners, a net gain of $450.

This may seem counter-intuitive at first, but when you sort it all out, the answer is pretty simple. Don’t hedge your bets on parlays!

There are rare exceptions to this rule, for example, if the Arizona Cardinals make the Super Bowl and you bet $10 on them to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season at 200 to 1, or something like that, it would be a good idea to hedge that wager. As for simple, everyday parlays, however, to maximize your profits, don’t hedge!

You may here handicappers talk about money management from time to time, but maybe you don’t have a clear concept of it, or perhaps, you are yet to find a system to follow. As a long time handicapper, I’ll be the first to tell you that having a money management system is a good strategy.

As is the case with any type of investment, it is important to do your homework and then also to diversify. First off, leave no stone unturned when you analyze each game on the board. Making a wager without doing so is also known as a guess and guesses will not turn you a profit over the long haul. Analyzing line movement, breaking down individual player matchups, looking at historical trends, and coaching angles are just a few of the places to start when handicapping a game. Many football and basketball betting enthusiasts don’t have enough time to break down all the matchups on a given day as thoroughly as needed and that’s where finding a trusted handicapper can come in handy. Finding someone you can trust to deliver winning football picks or baseball of basketball bets could be the first thing to help you on your way. But let’s say you have the time to do adequate research to handicap games every day. If that is the case, the next thing you must consider putting into action is a money management system. Without one, all the knowledge in the world can’t help you.

Many will use the coin flip analogy. If you flip a coin 1000 times, it will come up heads and tails pretty close to 500 times each. During this little experiment though, there will be stretches where the coin will come up tails five or more times in a row. If you can imagine that those tails flips are losses, you will see the trouble that some sports bettors get into. After a loss, many bettors will double their wager to try to get back what they loss the day before plus turn a profit. If they continue to lose while doing this, you can only imagine the world of hurt you could find yourself in. Here are a couple money management techniques to try if you currently don’t have any in action. Some players will bet a standard amount per game no matter what. Other players will rate their plays and bet a standard amount according to their rating. That’s what I tell players to do who bet my picks. Play the same amount for every 3*, 4* , and 5* selection every time no matter what. Another good idea is to set boundaries. In other words, never make a wager larger than a certain percentage of your bankroll. For most, 10 percent is the cut off.

In sports betting 50 percent won’t have you breaking even because of the juice that is charged by sportsbooks. You’ll need to hit 52.4 percent of your wagers to break even. To put that in further perspective, that’s 11 winners for every 10 losers to cover the standard -110 juice price. If you’re having trouble reaching a break-even percentage, you may want to consider giving my sports betting techniques a try to learn more about the art of handicapping while making money in the process.

Now, when I speak about diversification, I’m speaking about betting volume. Playing more games allows you to hit a lower percentage of your wagers and still make more money. Here’s an example. One bettor goes 10-7 for the week. That’s a profitable 58.8 percent winning rate. If he bet $100 per game, he would have profited $230 when betting with standard -110 juice. Another bettor plays double the games in a week and goes 19-15 (55.8 percent). If he or she wagered $100 a game also, they would have profited $250 while hitting 3 percent less. Hitting the same percentage as our player who bet fewer games, or going 20-14, would double your money. A $100 player posting these numbers in a week would profit a solid $460. Diversification is only a good idea if you are able to do enough research to bet a larger set of games.

Jimmy Boyd started Locksmith Sports to help bettors make money with sports betting. Most of our handicappers on our site guarantee their individual pick packages and long-term subscriptions so that you either profit on the picks you receive or else you will be compensated with a subscription of equal time free of charge. We do not offer a money back policy like some services do, but if our sports handicappers put together a poor performance they do want to try and make things right for you.

Most of our clients know that the services on our site won’t win every single day, and that hitting over 70% for an entire season is a pipe dream and not a realistic goal. All you have to accomplish is a season of hitting 55-60% of your games and you can win quite a bit of money during that time.

We often get emails and calls about a handicapper who lost a single pick or on a single day and the client calls the handicapper terrible or insinuates that he was just guessing. The thing these individuals do not understand is that our handicappers focus on the long haul and not on the day to day. You simply are not going to get every play you release right no matter how much you study the angles.

Guarantee Policy

1. There is no free time given when a profit has been made. Even if our guys go 1-1, but hit a +125 underdog and lose a -120 favorite, that means you profited 5 units and will not receive additional selections. On the reverse, if we lose a single unit then you will be given additional time equal to what you purchased.

2. All plays are graded on 100 unit intervals, even if the handicapper has 1* on the game that wins and 25* on a game that loses.

3. There is only one free subscription given per purchase, no matter how much you lost on the package that you bought and even if the free package ended up losing as well. If you lose 150 units with your purchased subscriptions and then win 125 during your free term, no more picks will be sent. Also, if you lost 50 units on your purchased subscription and then lose 25 units on your free term, your subscription still comes to and end at the finish of your free time. Back to back losing days will happen, but our site does not offer more than a single free subscription of the same term. If you give up after a short term of losses then we wish you all of the best trying to find a better group of handicapping services out there that will win for you over the long run.

4. All of our plays are graded on the odds selected by the handicapper. These lines are based off of our live feed that is taken directly from eight of the best online sportsbooks around. Line movements happen and more often than not you will see the line going in an unfavorable direction since our handicappers are on the “smart” side of games. Unfortunately during football if you wait until Saturday or Sunday then you are going to be worse off than if you buy early in the week.

5. For all subscriptions you will get an equal time package starting the next day. If the Monday Night Football game loses for you then you get the next day’s plays for free. If you want a football game but there are none on Tuesday then your free term will not be extended to a day with football. The offer is for the next day or a subscription of the same term starting the day following your subscriptions expiration.

The reason for this policy is that we want to turn you into a serious investor, which means riding out the winning and losing streaks over the course of a full season betting all of our releases on a daily basis. We don’t want you to go on tilt and press your bets if you hit a small slump, but instead be the kind of player that can focus on the long term.

Our seasonal subscribers will make the most money off our of selections, but if you just want some temporary help and signup for a short term package then we will do all we can to assist you in beating the sportsbooks.

Saturday the South Carolina Gamecocks host the Arkansas Razorbacks in SEC action. The Gamecocks look like they are bowl-bound after a dominating performance against Tennessee last week, giving them their 6th win of the season. Arkansas has struggled against SEC opponents all season long earning just a 1-4 conference record, but the Razorbacks earned an impressive victory over then-undefeated Tulsa last week to give their moral a bit of a boost. Oddsmakers see this game as a one-sided affair, placing South Carolina as 12 point favorites against Arkansas and setting the total at 45 points.

Arkansas’ offense hasn’t been as productive as they’d like, averaging just 20 points per game simply won’t get the job done in the SEC. Part of the problem has been QB Casey Dick’s inconsistency and inaccuracy. Dick has thrown 11 interceptions this season and just nine touchdowns, not the kind of ratio a winning team needs out of their starting signal caller. The ‘Backs have rushed for over 120 yards per game this season, but they have been playing from behind in so many of their conference games, it’s been hard to use that running game to their advantage.

Defense, it’s safe to say, has been a major problem for Arkansas this season. They are giving up 11 more points per game than they are scoring, yielding 31 ppg. Even in a winning effort over Tulsa last week, Arkansas gave up well over 500 yards of total offense. If they can hope to keep this week’s game even close, they will need to shore up their defensive effort across the entire unit. It’s also safe to say the oddsmakers are well aware of the Razorbacks’ defensive woes. That’s why the best line available for Arkansas is +12 at BetUs.com.

When the Gamecocks hit the field on offense, it hasn’t been especially intimidating this year. The South Carolina offensive unit is scoring just 23 points per game and is barely gaining 330 yards of total offense against their opponents. There aren’t many bright spots to speak of for the Gamecocks. They’ve had virtually no production from the quarterback position and their running game is a virtual non-factor coming in at just over 100 yards per contest.

One of the best defenses in the country, the majority of South Carolina’s success is because of this defensive unit. They’ve held opponents to under 15 points per game, which is how they can score only 23 points per game and still manage a winning record. This has been a very opportunistic squad as well, forcing 17 turnovers already this season. There’s just no way the Gamecocks would be where they are today without the great play of this defense. Thanks to them, it looks like South Carolina will be headed to a fairly large bowl game this year. It’s also thanks to the defense that South Carolina is a 12 point favorite at home this week.

To say that this game won’t feature much offense would be an understatement. Both teams have struggled heavily on the offensive side of the ball, but South Carolina should find plenty of openings against an Arkansas defense that is a bit of a calamity right now. Arkansas’ offense won’t get the same luxury from the Gamecocks’ defense, who truly are one of the elite units in college football.

Want to make money on college football betting this season? Grab a college football picks package from one of our handicappers and start beating the NCAA football odds today!
