Cincinnati Bengals at Minnesota Vikings NFL Week 14 Odds & Betting

The 9-3 Cincinnati Bengals take on the 10-2 Minnesota Vikings Sunday in one of the best matchups of Week 14. Cincy didn’t play its best in Week 13, but it didn’t have to as it was fortunate enough to be playing the lowly Lions. The Bengals won the game 23-13. Minnesota got a huge wake up call on Sunday Night Football, enduring a 30-17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. These two teams last met in the 2005 season when Daunte Culpepper was still quarterbacking the Vikings. Vikings fans can rejoice that he isn’t still quarterbacking the team as he was picked off five times the last time these two teams faced off, leading to a 37-8 win for the Bengals. The Bengals have taken two of the last three meetings between these two sides to even the all-time series at five games a piece. NFL odds makers have listed the Minnesota Vikings as a 7-point favorite with the total set at 43.

The Bengals are 3-0 against the NFC North Division this season, but in order to pull off the sweep, they’ll have to beat the division’s best team. Unlike the last Bengals team to win the AFC North, this one is doing it with defense, allowing a league-low 15.6 points per game. No part of that defense will be tested more this week than cornerbacks Jonathan Joseph and Leon Hall. Many are calling this duo the league’s best cornerback unit this season. They’ll have to live up to the hype against Brett Favre and a Vikings wide receiver unit that is among the best in the NFL statistically.

Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco were the offensive stars for the Bengals the last time they won a division crown. This season the team is getting it done with defense and a strong running attack, led by Cedric Benson. Expect the Vikings to make the Bengals beat them through the air Sunday. That means Palmer may have to be ready to air it out like he used to. It is worth noting that the Bengals are a perfect 8-0 ATS in their last 8 games as an underdog. In fact, Peterson is only averaging three yards per tote the last three weeks, scoring only one touchdown during that span. The Minnesota offensive line must open up some holes for Peterson Sunday for the Vikings to get back in the win column.
