Cincinnati Oklahoma Odds, Line, Spread & Football Picks
The 2:30 PM EST game on ABC for Saturday, September 6th will see the Cincinnati Bearcats head down to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The early odds on this game at JustBet see the line at Oklahoma -21.5 over Cincinnati.
Oklahoma looked good last week as they fine-tuned their new no-huddle offense in a dominating 57-2 blowout of Tennessee-Chattanooga last week. The Sooners had hopped out to a 50-0 halftime lead before playing the subs and toning down the scoring a little bit.
Sam Bradford was impressive in the win, throwing for 183 yards and two scores before Joey Hazle replaced him in the second quarter, throwing for 122 yards and a score on 14-of-16 passing himself. The ground game was also hitting on all cylinders as Chris Brown scored three rushing touchdowns and DeMarco Murray ran for 124 yards and a score. It appears the no-huddle is taking the Sooner offense to even new heights after last year leading college football with 80 touchdowns and 592 points scored. Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson seems determined to keep the no-huddle going in order to keep defenses on their toes and not allowing them to have any breaks. Clearly against the weaker opponent it worked out well, as the Sooners found the end zone seven straight time to open the game and outgained Chattanooga in total yards 487 to 36. The offense could be even more deadly this week with the return of tackle Phil Loadholt and receiver Ryan Broyles from suspension.
Oklahoma has been tough to beat at home when playing non-conference opponents since the Bob Stoops era began back in 1999. The Sooners are now 27-2 at Owen Field with an average win of almost 30 points under Stoops. You can bet the Oklahoma -21.5 spread at JustBet and get a huge signup bonus for your initial deposit.
Cincinnati also got their 2008 season off to a good start when they put a 40-7 beat down on Eastern Kentucky. The Bearcats thoroughly dominated the game in which they piled up 557 yards of total offense while holding the Colonels to only 195.
Cincinnati has an interesting situation at quarterback. Last week it was Dustin Grutza getting the start and he threw for 296 yards and a career high three touchdowns against Eastern Kentucky. He was the starter back in 2006 before Ben Mauk came over from Wake Forest. Mauk has know applied for another season of eligibility, with his appeal still pending. While we can’t see Mauk coming in and playing this game, it could have an effect on how well Grutza plays if that appeal is granted.
The offense has gotten a lot of publicity for this Bearcat team, but don’t let that lead you to believe defensively they are a bunch of push overs. They held the Colonels last week to only eight first downs and 1.7 rushing yards per attempt. While we don’t see that same success coming against the Sooners, don’t plan on seeing Oklahoma routing the Bearcats to a 50-0 lead at half.
