Week 15 College Football Bowl Predictions
The BCS National Championship Game will most likely feature the Oklahoma Sooners and the Florida Gators. Oklahoma will need to defeat Missouri in the the Big 12 Championship to ensure their spot in the title game, while Florida must battle #1 Alabama in the SEC Championship to earn their spot. While nothing is a guarantee, both Oklahoma and Florida are double-digit favorites in their respective title games.
If Oklahoma does head to the BCS Championship, the Fiesta Bowl will most likely choose Texas out of the Big 12 to face Ohio State out of the Big 10. Texas Tech is a possibility to take the Longhorns’ spot because they beat them straight-up, but because Texas ranks so much higher in the BCS they are the most likely candidate.
Both Rose Bowl teams should be locked in after this week. Penn State won the Big 10 and is therefore locked in. All the USC Trojans have to do is win against UCLA this week to guarantee their spot. USC is a 30 point favorite going into the UCLA game, so an upset is pretty unlikely there.
If Alabama loses to Florida (which we are projecting they will do) then the Sugar Bowl will no doubt take the Crimson Tide as they should still be the highest-ranked SEC team available. The Sugar then will take either Cincinnati (as Big East Champ) or Utah as an undefeated at-large team. The most likely pairing would be Alabama versus Utah.
For the Orange Bowl, the winner of the ACC Championship is locked into one of the two spots. That will be either Virginia Tech or Boston College who play this weekend. We are projecting that Virginia Tech will win the ACC to earn the first spot in the Orange Bowl. The other place could be fairly tricky. The selection committee would still possibly need to choose from Cincinnati, Utah, or Boise State. More than likely, if they are available, the bowl would select Cincinnati, making our projection for the Orange Bowl Virginia Tech versus Cincinnati.
