Colorado at Nebraska Football Picks & Odds

Written by Jack Jones

Colorado’s hopes for a bowl appearance hinge on whether they can head to Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday and beat the Cornhuskers. Colorado has gone just 1-4 away from Boulder this year though, so the chances of that happening are not all that great. The early odds on this game show Nebraska as an 18-point favorite with the total set at 57.

Head coach Dan Hawkins has used his son Cody under center for most of the season. Hawkins has completed 57% of his passes for 1,643 yards and 16 scores, but he also has tossed seven picks. His favorite target this year has been Scotty McKnight, who has 42 receptions for 461 yards and five scores. The ground game has been dismal this year for the Buffaloes, ranking 10th in the conference and 76thin the nation with just 132 ypg. Their leading rusher Rodney Stewart will miss this game so that certainly won’t help the rushing attack. The Buffaloes are only scoring 19.2 ppg, which ranks 105th in the country.

The defense hasn’t been that great for Colorado either, holding just three opponents to under 24 points. With their 28.3 ppg allowed this team ranks 82nd in the nation. There aren’t a lot of good things to say about a squad that has performed so poorly, but they have seen some of the better offenses in the nation this year. Too bad they won’t catch a break facing the Huskers this week. Colorado is +18 at BetUS, where you can get up to 145% in signup bonuses on your initial deposit.

Nebraska has been an offensive juggernaut this year, but that is in part due to playing Western Michigan, San Jose State and New Mexico State. Still, the Huskers are moving the ball 463 ypg to rank ninth in the country. The passing attack has moved the ball 289.8 ypg with Joe Ganz doing most of the work. He has 3,100 yards and 21 touchdowns, but his 10 interceptions have hurt Big Red at times. Still, last year he had 484 yards and four touchdowns against Colorado, so you know he’ll be excited to see the Buffs on the field. For the rushing game Roy Helu and Marlon Lucky have combined for 1,150 yards and 14 of the 26 Nebraska rushing touchdowns.

This Cornhusker defense has been solid against weaker opponents, holding two teams to just a single touchdown, but has been torn apart by the likes of Missouri and Oklahoma. That has resulted in a 29 ppg average which is 91st in the country. The Huskers don’t force enough turnovers, racking up only seven picks and four fumbles so far in 11 games.
