Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars Line

Written by Jimmy Boyd on December 27, 2011

The Indianapolis Colts (2-13), who started the season 0-13, will have a chance to conclude their campaign with three straight victories when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars (4-11) Sunday.

The Colts are currently listed as a four-point underdog with the total set at 37.

Dan Orlovsky, who completed 23 of 41 passes for 244 yards with no interceptions, threw his lone touchdown pass with 19 seconds remaining to give the Colts a 19-16 win over the Houston Texans.

Reggie Wayne, who was on the receiving end of Orlovsky’s game-winning touchdown strike, led the team with eight catches and 106 receiving yards.

Joseph Addai led the way on the ground with 59 of the team’s 95 rushing yards.

The Jaguars have lost back-to-back games since defeating Tampa Bay 41-14 on Dec. 11. They lost 23-17 to the Tennessee Titans last week.

Blaine Gabbert completed 21 of 42 passes for 198 yards with no touchdowns and an interception. Five passes found the hands of Jarett Dillard, who led the team with 61 receiving yards.

Maurice Jones-Drew headed up the ground attack with 103 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.

The Colts have won 11 of the last 15 in this series, but the Jaguars won the most recent meeting 17-3 on Nov. 13.  Led by Jones-Drew, who leads the NFL with 1,437 rushing yards, the Jags racked up 141 yards on the ground in that game.

The Colts, who rank 29th in the NFL against the run with 140.9 yards allowed per game, gave up 171 rushing yards to Houston last week.

Indy’s inability to stop the run could prove costly Sunday considering the team with the most rushing yards has won each of the last three matchups.

The Colts, who are 24th in the league with 102.5 rushing yards per game, don’t figure to gash a Jacksonville stop unit ranked 11th against the run with 107.4 yards allowed per contest.

Indianapolis has covered the spread in each of its last four games but is just 1-10 against the number in its last 11 games versus a team with a losing record.

The Jaguars aren’t favored often but normally take care of business when they are. They are 6-1 against the number in their last seven games as a favorite.

As far as the total is concerned, the over has been the play. These two have finished over the number in six of the last eight matchups.
