Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants NFL Betting & Predictions

Sweeping the regular season series meant nothing after Dallas was taken out of the playoffs early by the New York Giants a season ago and the rest was history. Now the Cowboys find themselves in the underdog role this week. Odds makers have listed Dallas as 9-point underdogs with the total set at 41.
Outside of one hiccup, a Monday Night Football loss to Cleveland, the Giants have looked like a team that could win another Super Bowl this season. They have the NFC’s best record and they’ll get a Cowboys team without its star QB this week.
Dallas was the cream of the crop in the NFC last season, with a 13-3 regular season mark that ensured it home-field throughout the playoffs. A pair of regular season wins over New York went a long way in securing the best record in the NFC for Dallas.
QB Tony Romo put up big numbers against the Giants in those two wins, throwing eight touchdown passes. His mobility was vital against New York’s ferocious pass rush. The Cowboys will not have the luxury of having him on the field due to a broken pinkie injury on his throwing hand. The injury left 40-year-old Brad Johnson in charge of the offense.
Johnson did not look good in a 34-14 blowout loss to St. Louis on October 19th in which he threw three interceptions. While Dallas came out on top last week against Tampa Bay, the offense still struggled to move the ball down the field under Johnson.
In just two weeks, Johnson has been sacked six times and they might really start to pile up against the best sack team in the league. New York leads the NFL with 26 sacks this season. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said Johnson will start, but third-stringer Brooks Bollinger got some work with the first team this week in practice. If Johnson can’t avoid the rush, don’t be surprised to see Bollinger in relief.
The Cowboys are expected to get Romo back after their Week 10 bye and that game can’t come soon enough. In the meantime, the Cowboys could use a big game from star wideout Terrell Owens. He has been hurt by Romo’s absence with only 7 grabs for 64 yards the past two weeks.
Dallas could get another blow if tight end Jason Witten is not ready to go. He broke a rib in last week’s game. Witten leads the Boys with 46 catches for 549 yards.
Dallas will still come into this game with a great deal of confidence as now it is the team with nothing to lose. The Cowboys have also won their last two games at Giants Stadium. If you think Dallas can keep this game within the 9-point number, bet the Cowboys at +9 at BetUS.
Eli Manning is a much different QB than we saw in the regular season a year ago. I suppose that’s what winning a Super Bowl can do for you. Manning has had all day to throw behind a very good offensive line this season.
Manning was 19 of 32 for 199 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over Pittsburgh. The Giants were able to beat the Steelers on the road without one of the star receivers. Plaxico Burress was suspended for a game for missing a team meeting.
Burress is expected to be back in the starting lineup on Sunday and he’ll be looking to have his was with an injury-plagued Dallas secondary. Safety Roy Williams, cornerbacks Terrence Newman and Adam Jones are already out, and Anthony Henry is nursing a thigh bruise, leaving a ton of inexperience in the defensive backfield. If you think New York can take advantage of Dallas’ secondary to cover the 9-point spread, bet the Giants at -9 at BetUS and receive up to a 50% sign up bonus.
