Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants Line
The NFC East title and a playoff berth will be on the line when the Dallas Cowboys (8-7) take on the New York Giants (8-7) Sunday night.
Odds makers believe the Giants will be the team marching into the postseason, listing them as a three-point favorite with the total set at 46.5.
The Cowboys, who lost 20-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles last Saturday, blew an opportunity to run away with the division by dropping three of their last four games. Fortunately, they can still win the East and secure the No. 4 seed in the NFC playoffs with a win.
Dallas only managed 238 yards of offense against the Eagles as Tony Romo hurt his throwing hand on the opening series. Stephen McGee connected on 24 of 38 pass attempts for 182 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in relief.
Dez Bryant led the team with six catches and 62 receiving yards.
Miles Austin, who finished with four receptions for 40 yards, hauled in Dallas’ lone touchdown.
Sammy Morris led the way on the ground with 29 of the team’s 81 rushing yards.
The Giants stayed in the hunt for a division title with last week’s 29-14 win over the New York Jets.
Eli Manning only completed 9 of 27 passes for 225 yards with one touchdown and one interception but was bailed out by the defense and a solid rushing attack.
Ahmad Bradshaw gained 54 of the team’s 115 rushing yards and scored twice.
The Giants have won six of the last eight in this series with the most recent being a 37-34 win in Dallas on Dec. 11.
The Giants torched the Dallas defense with 510 yards of offense in that game. 400 of those yards came through the air.
This week’s rematch could very well be decided by which quarterback has the better day throwing the football.
Manning leads the NFL’s fourth-best passing attack, which averages 293.5 yards per game.
Romo, who is expected to play to play Sunday, leads the league’s eighth-best passing offense, which gains 263.3 yards per contest.
Manning ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards (4,587), seventh in touchdown passes (26) and 10th in passer rating (90.3).
Romo ranks eighth in passing yards (3,895), fifth in touchdown tosses (29) and fourth in passer rating (102.2).
The Giants have had the upper hand in this series recently, but it may be tough to lay off the Cowboys considering the underdog is 5-0 against the spread in the last five meetings, and the Cowboys are 7-1 against the number in their last eight games as an underdog.
As far as the total is concerned, the over has been the play. These two have finished over the total in each of the last five matchups.
