Dallas Cowboys v. Detroit Lions Betting Odds

The Cowboys Lions betting odds have been posted and it appears that Dallas is about an 11-point favorite to beat Detroit.  The Cowboys have had a little extra time to prepare as they are coming off their win against the Packers on Thursday night.  Dallas now stands at 11-1 straight up (SU) and 9-3 against the spread (ATS) and have given themselves an edge in the race for the NFC's home-field advantage.  Detroit comes into this contest at 6-6 SU and 5-6 ATS but the team has dropped four straight to find themselves fighting for their playoff lives.

Let's take a look to see if the two teams can approach the total of 52 set by leading online sportsbook BetUS.  Check out our BetUS review for more information about this quality sportsbook if you are looking to bet on this game on Sunday.  Here are some interesting stats that you might want to consider if you are interested in the total: Dallas is putting up 32.9 ppg, which is behind only the Pats for tops in the NFL, four of their last five games overall have gone over and their last six road games have beat the odds makers expectations for the over/under.  The Lions are streaking high as well with four of their last five going over the number, mostly because they are giving up 31.5 ppg in that span, and five of their last eight home games beating the total.  When these two teams have met the total has gone over in three of their last four.

The Dallas offense is looking very potent with Tony Romo already setting a franchise record for touchdown passes in a single season with 33.  Patrick Crayton has stepped into the no. 2 receiver hole nicely with 524 yards and seven scores to go with Terrell Owens's 1,249 yards and 14 touchdowns.  If it wasn't for the Brady/Moss combo in New England these guys would be getting a lot of attention for their efforts.

Even without Roy Williams, who is out for the year with injury, we expect Mike Martz to put together an offensive game plan that will keep Detroit scoring.  Over the last four games the Lions have only ran for 164 yards, and that was with a big game against Green Bay in there.  What does that mean?  The team is going to pass, which will mean more plays for both squads as the clock will often be stopped.  Only two teams give up more yards at home than the Lions and with Dallas scoring 34 ppg away from home we like this one going over the total.
