Dallas Cowboys at Washington Redskins Spread
The Washington Redskins (3-6) will be looking to end a five-game skid when they host the Dallas Cowboys (5-4) Sunday.
Odds makers believe the Redskins’ misery will continue.
The Cowboys are currently listed as an eight-point favorite with the total set at 41.5
Dallas is coming off an impressive 44-7 home win over the Buffalo Bills.
Tony Romo connected on 23 of 26 pass attempts for 270 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the rout. Two of those touchdown strikes went to Laurent Robinson, who had a total of three catches for 73 yards.
Rookie DeMarco Murray led the way on the ground with 135 yards and a score.
The Redskins went back to Rex Grossman but the result was the same. He completed 21 of 32 passes for 215 yards with no touchdowns and two picks in last Sunday’s 20-9 road loss to the Miami Dolphins.
Eight of his completions went to Leonard Hankerson, who led the Skins with 106 receiving yards.
Roy Helu led the team in rushing with 41 yards on six totes.
The Redskins can’t expect to win if they don’t start scoring some points. They currently rank 28th in the NFL in scoring with 15.1 points per game and have averaged just 10.6 points during their losing streak.
The offense could continue to struggled Sunday versus a Dallas stop unit that ranks 10th in the league with 20.2 points allowed per game. The Cowboys have held three of their last four opponents to 13 points or less.
Washington must find ways to put points on the board in order to keep pace with a Dallas offense that ranks 10th in the NFL with 24.9 points per game.
Neither team did much scoring in the season’s first meeting, an 18-16 Dallas victory at Cowboys Stadium on Sept. 26.
The Redskins held the Cowboys to six field goals while Romo played with a broken rib. The Skins took a 16-12 lead into the fourth but were outscored 6-0 in the final period.
The Cowboys have won five of the last six against their biggest rivals. Four of those five victories have come by four points or less.
The Redskins won 13-7 the last time these two met in Washington.
Washington has failed to cover the spread in each of its last five games but history appears to be on its side this week.
It has covered the number in eight of the last 10 meetings with the Cowboys. Also, the underdog is 22-6 against the spread in the last 28 matchups.
In regard to the total, the under has been the play. These two have come in under the number in five of the last six meetings.
