Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers NFL Betting Odds & Predictions
The 6-2 NFC East leading Dallas Cowboys take on the 4-4 Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in a Week 10 NFC showdown. Last week, the Cowboys claimed the division lead with a 20-16 win in Philadelphia while the Packers fell 38-28 to the previously winless Buccaneers. These two teams last met last season with the Cowboys winning 27-16. The win was their third in the last four meetings in the series and they own a 16-12 advantage all-time. NFL odds makers have listed the Dallas Cowboys as 3-point favorites with the total set at 47.5.

It’s November and that has been when Cowboys QB Tony Romo is at his best. Romo has won 13 straight November starts and he should be able to make it 14 if he continues to get great help from emerging wide receiver Miles Austin. Heading into the season, Austin wasn’t expected to see much playing time, finding himself behind Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton on the depth chart. But it is safe to say that Dallas would not be leading the division had Austin not been inserted into the starting lineup. Since being named a starter in Week 5, Austin has taken the league by storm with 22 catches for 531 yards and seven touchdowns. He and Romo face a stiff task this week against a Green Bay defense that is ranked No. 8 against the pass.
Defensively, Dallas goes pretty much how star pass rusher DeMarcus Ware goes, and Ware has to be licking his chops coming into this one. Green Bay has allowed a ridiculous 37 sacks already this season, putting them close to the pace of the NFL’s all-time record for sacks allowed in a season (76). It is worth noting that the Cowboys are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 November games. If you like Dallas to stay hot in November, bet the Cowboys at -3 at Sportsbook.com.
Green Bay decided to make the switch to a 3-4 defensive scheme under coordinator Dom Capers and it is apparent that the team is yet to feel completely comfortable in its new skin. The Packers have allowed 30 or more points to Minnesota twice and to Cincinnati and you sort of shake those off because of the caliber of the opponent, but giving up 38 points to the Bucs shows that this unit still has a ways to go.
While I expect Green Bay to play much better defensively this week in what is a must win game in a lot of ways, its best defense could be a strong running game. If Green Bay is able to run the football effectively, it can limit the number of possessions for Dallas’ explosive offense. Running back Ryan Grant is having a solid season with 621 yards and four scores on a 4.2 yards per carry average. Having a talent like Aaron Rodgers would make any team want to pass the football more, but Green Bay needs to keep in mind that it is 10-1 when Grant gets at least 22 totes. It is worth noting that the home team is 7-1 ATS in their last 8 meetings. If you like Green Bay to bounce back strong at home Sunday, bet the Packers at +3 at BetUS.
